Image of the Tripadvisor rating Queues and not enough staff on

Oct 24, 2024 cj9090 Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Queues for the bar, queues for the restaurant with the pool restaurant closed for a function. The fact there was 1 poor waiter serving 20/30 waiting quests on two pool bars and the restaurant severely understaffed for lunchtime is such a disappointment and really ruined our entire experience.

The service, cleanliness and food were fantastic, it cannot be faulted at all. There are a few things I think the hotel could do to improve the overall experience, though. Firstly, having some areas included in the all-inclusive package and others not was really frustrating and annoying. This brings me to my next point, getting a drink at the pool bars took far too long because of having to sign for the drinks despite being all-inclusive, that let down the experience. It was also disappointing that JA Beach didn't have its adult-only pool/area.... kids are really annoying and dirty and it was hard to relax around them. It was strange that golf wasn't included in a golf resort. All in all, these areas for improvement wouldn't stop me going back, but I would probably go to JA Lake View next time. Read less

But for me the wide and spacious private beach is definitely the highlight— plenty of spots to relax, plenty of sun loungers to soak up the rays) and enjoy sunset of course (The Anchor bar/reastaurant at the beach area — appreciate your service) I came here water sports— wakesurfing 🏄‍♀️mostly. So check it out if u ride. For wingfoiling and kitesurfing — also quit good conditions here after 2-3 PM often, wind is maybe a bit lite but if u ride u will enjoy. The hotel boasts stunning views, the marina adds a nice touch. Very friendly staff, incredibly welcoming and attentive) Dining was a treat! Especially the seafood at Taperia) Also thanks 2 Vasco da Gama staff. This bar has a spacious terrace that’s the perfect evening spot to unwind with some drinks. I enjoyed my staying that much that didn’t wanna leave) Read less

We normally go to Turkey in September but thought we'd try Dubai again in early October. The flights with Etihad from LHR where excellent. Roughly 1 hour transfer from Abu Dhabi airport (£110 return taxi). The hotel is older but it looks like the rooms and common areas have recently been renovated. Ultra clean, friendly staff. A special mention for Indika on reception, he was proactive and helped us with several things. The beach is just outside- lots of sunbeds. The sea was like a warm bath, we needed to cool off in the pools. We went half board- and this allows you to book into the a-la-carte restaurants without restriction, the Thai and Indian just give you a £30 credit pp. This leads to one issue- you can only book in to the restaurants via reception, and they have to call a central booking number, so often you are waiting for an answer. You do not get written confirmation for your booking. We booked into the top floor Sette Italian, and on the evening they had no booking for us. The same happened to another couple who had arrived at the same time. No room available that evening. Indika sorted out a different restaurant for us. Two other issues- this wasn't high season, but the main buffet restaurant struggled with number at peak times. You had to wait for a table. Breakfast and evening times. the wait wasn't too long. Wifi- a small niggle. The signal needs improving around the beach area. Also they need to remove the login on the free guest wifi. My phone struggled to auto reconnect when moving around the property. Just a suggestion for more beer types. They only had 3 average lagers available. Go All Inclusive if you are a big drink and eater. We spent £70per day just on drinks. AI was a £120 upgrade per night when we arrived, not worth it for us. Large water £5 a bottle. Draft beer ~£9 same for cocktails. Golf facilities are excellent. Free putting and chipping area. Full grass range- £8 for 50 balls I think. Twilight tee times are good value. If you're a good player you can blast around on a buggy in 1 hour, but there are lots of slow 4 ball groups. Pretty but short course. I would really like to return to this hotel- but probably when its a little cooler in November or Spring time. Read less
