The hotel

You couldn't stay any closer to Disneyland Resort California without being in Sleeping Beauty's castle! Right in the heart of the action, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is the perfect base to explore all of the parks - you even have your own private entrance to Disney California Adventure Park. The hotel has an American Craftsman style that gives it a warm and cosy feel, especially when you're curled up by the fire with a drink in the Hearthstone Lounge at the end of an action packed day in the parks. If you're in the mood for a relaxing day, rent a poolside cabana and soak up the Californian sun, a server will be on hand to tend to all your food and drink needs. And when evening comes, pop across to Downtown Disney and catch a show or some live music, you'll be spoilt for choice.

Influencers tell everyone at parks to go take a nap in the lobby of this hotel - and Disney encourages this. Don’t stay here - stay at Disneyland Hotel or Pixar Pier. They are not over run by Park guests sitting in every hallway chair and making a bunch of noise - and sleeping on couches and in all Che chairs by the fireplace. This hotel has completely lost control. It’s so loud you can hear all the noise in the rooms. Worst hotel we have stayed in for a very long time. Read less

The hotel is nice and clean but a lot of noises come from the pipes. i stayed in room 2233 and can only describe it as maybe air in the pipes that cause a knocking sound when the toilet flushes. The sound comes from the sinks. It also happened once when water was on in another room. This woke us up at 5:30 am with continuous knocking sounds for about 15 minutes. It was so disruptive, which is the last thing you want after an exhausting day in the park. We were also disturbed by a dog barking non-stop in another room. I understand bringing service animals, but they shouldn’t be left in the room unattended. That dog barked for at least 45 minutes straight. You can’t go back to sleep after that. The toilet seat was also loose. I don’t know if I’d stay here again just due to the noises in the pipes. Read less

What a great resort! We had previously stayed at various Disney World resorts in FL but the Grand Californian is the BEST by far. The hotel itself is nice, clean and the employees are all so friendly and helpful. The location can not be beat! I couldn't believe that within 5-10 minutes I could be at either park or downtown Disney. SO different than the Disney World experience where transportation to/from the park takes time and planning. We did visit the spa and had a great experience here as well. This hotel feels a bit more upscale than most others. Can't wait to visit again! Read less

The hotel itself is beautiful and you can watch the World of Color show from a private terrace. We splurged for a Club level room, I wasn't sure if the added cost would be worth it, but it truly was. I would definitely stay at the Club level again. If you can swing it, stay at the Grand Californian. Read less

If you're looking for the BEST LOCATION near Disneyland, this hotel has it. However, despite the luxury hotel price, the stay is far from luxurious. The furniture is outdated, and the sheets are not luxury quality. I stayed the night before at the Westin Anaheim, and the difference in terms of a "luxury" hotel was significant. Ultimately, what you’re really paying for at this hotel is the convenience and proximity to Disneyland. My daughter, who still takes naps, could easily rest in the room, and it was quick and easy to return whenever we needed. Read less
