Image of the Tripadvisor rating Felt like a motel, not a Marriott, but clean and friendly

Nov 18, 2024 deekzee Bethpage, New York

It was clean and the staff was nice. I felt like I was at a motel 6, though once we got in the room. The concrete walls, terrible quality of towels and tissues were not for me. We did have a quite nights sleep and got to see the fireworks at night! That was cool. Probably wouldn’t be back though.

We unfortunately had a disappointing really negative experience to remember at this hotel. While staying here we got a call while at Disneyland to inform us that our car had been found damaged. We were parked in front of the rooms. We were told management would go through everything with us once we got back to the hotel. When we got back to our hotel the front desk staff said they could not help us and said the manager on duty did not want to talk to us. They said the manager had left us a message informing us that our car was damaged and there was nothing else to say. They refused to have a manager call us. We were taken aback by how unhelpful the staff were. They didn’t want to talk to us at all or help in any way. Not what we would have expected from Marriott. They didn’t seem to care that this had happened on property. There was no customer service at all. Security confirmed there are no cameras on the hotel walkways in front of the rooms and that they also don’t patrol the room walkways. This is very concerning from a safety perspective. Marriott claims said hotels are not required to have CCTV installed around the hotel. The hotel also refused to file a police report. From looking at our car damages it appears a full Coca Cola bottle fell from one of the upper floor room walkways through the car windshield also damaging the interior. No one took responsibility for the accident. We noticed the housekeeping carts (while rooms are being cleaned) were being parked against the upper floor railings directly above cars and pedestrian walkways. The top of the carts were level with the top of the railings with items sticking out that could fall off onto people and cars below. The bottle may have fallen off one of the carts.. Since there’s no cameras on property, we are having to pay expenses such as deductible, rental car insurance etc. The day after the incident a manager on duty after we asked agreed to comp one night. However, this does not cover the out of pocket expenses we have had from the car damages, rental car etc. Aside from the car damages and lack of customer service, the only thing this hotel has going for it is its great location. The beds were uncomfortable (you can feel springs) and the walls are paper thin so it’s noisy. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. We paid almost $500 a night for this bad experience. With no cameras on site, it’s not a safe place to stay. A guest could be attacked here or a room broken into and there’s no cameras to protect customers. Read less

Purchased our stay at the Fairfield Inn through a Costco package. Price was high, but that's the market rate. My sister got a much better rate booking directly through the hotel but she has high status and lots of points with Marriott. The actual building is a motel style with outdoor hallways. The rooms themselves are nothing fancy. We had one of the "premium rooms". I'm not sure what made it premium apart from a Disney themed mural on the wall. The floors were a pleasant faux hardwood. Beds were comfy enough. We had some issues with the room that were promptly addressed. The hair dryer wasn't working and someone quickly cam through and gave us a replacement. On our 2nd day our key card wouldn't open the door. Had to head down to the front desk and apparently the battery on the lock had gone bad. Security came up promptly and let us in and a couple minutes later someone came by and replaced the battery. Didn't have any problems thereafter. We checked-in with Brandon who was very pleasant and helpful. He got us an early check-in (1:00ish) which was much appreciated. He also broke a $100 bill for us so we'd have change for tips and stuff. The parking charges aren't cheap (just hold your nose, everything on a Disneyland trip is expensive) but the self-park is the same price as valet. Valet fellas were nice enough and quick getting our car. Pool is ok. Just your standard rectangle and small hot tub. Both were pretty overrun the one time we went down, but there's lots of families here so no suprise. If you want a nice pool there are a couple places next door with slides and a water-park-like scene. The motel is fine and all but you're paying for the location. You could feel the fireworks as you laid in bed. It was pretty intense. We had friends stay at the Dineyland Hotel and they were complaining about the long walk through Downtown Disney. Fairfield Inn is probably closer and you have both Panera and McDonalds adjacent so quick bites/drinks are super convenient and affordable compared to the parks. Panera is kinda slow (or maybe it was the girls' coffee drinks?) so be sure to put your order in through the app 15 minutes before you plan on picking it up. All in all we got what we expected at Fairfield Inn. Expensive for a motel style place, but good service, and a perfect location. We'd stay here again. Read less

This Fairfield Anaheim Resort earns four stars for my stay. There were many positive experiences in this property. Starting with the check in process - I did not opt for the mobile check in because I wanted to ask the front desk staff to make sure my room was not poolside. We were two adults traveling without children and didn't want to be bothered by the noise that could emanate from kids playing in the pool. We were accommodated beautifully with a room on the back side of the building in a corner. It was exactly what we needed. We also had assistance from a bellman with our luggage as he brought it to our room for us. A very pleasant conversationalist. The condition of the room - The room was clean and housekeeping is provided every other day or upon request. We felt that every other day was sufficient as there were plenty of towels for us to use. Housekeeping was done twice while we were there and each time, the room was returned to check in status. Pillows fluffed, fresh beds, fresh towels and cleaned! The room includes a mini fridge and a safe. A microwave was available on a different floor. Valet Parking - There did not appear to be an overwhelming amount of space. There is a clerk at the entrance to the property that checks to make sure you have a reservation. They let us know that self parking was limited but valet service was available for no additional fee. The valets were personable and quick. We had our car retrieved a couple of times during the stay and the car was always ready by the time we made it to the lobby! We were able to self park a couple of times as well. Access to washer and dryer - We appreciated the access to a washer and dryer. I believe there are units on each level of the building except for the lobby and second floor. The machines can be paid via app or a swipe of the credit card. It was convenient to have these machines for a lengthy stay. Proximity to Disneyland - The main entry to Disneyland and California Adventure Park are about two blocks away. It's a quick and short walk to get to the security lines for the parks. Easy to run back and forth if you desire. There are also places to eat along the way so you really don't need to drive much if you are happy with the offerings. By the way, after a day at the park and a tired walk back, there are some nicely chilled pitchers of ice water waiting for patrons in the lobby area. So, why didn't I give this property 5 stars? There a few personal preferences that I have. I prefer indoor corridors in a hotel. These rooms all have direct access to the outside. I also like to take advantage of the continental breakfasts that are offered at many hotel properties. That being said, none of the hotels we visiting in California had that as an option. And, the bathroom was a little small. We stayed in a series of hotels in California on this trip and this was the smallest bathroom of them all. Overall, I do recommend this property if you are considering a trip to Disneyland. Read less
