Image of the Tripadvisor rating Like an old, cheap, run-down motel

This hotel is barely a step-up from a motel. It's like staying in a really cheap and run-down apartment complex. Zero soundproofing so you can hear your neighbors upstairs and all around you. You can hear them talking, stomping around, and taking showers. Windows aren't double- or triple-paned so you can hear the street noise even if you're 9-stories up. Virtually zero amenities in the room: no cotton swaps, shower cap, not even a glass for drinking water (only plastic cups). Hotel overall is old and in need of a complete remodel. So disappointed. We had a good experience at the Beverly Hills Marriott, overall. However, getting the room we needed was a frustrating experience in the following ways: 1) Marriott's website is hit or miss in regard to mobility accessible hotel rooms. Sometimes the information is accurate. Sometimes it is contradictory (e.g., saying that a single hotel room has a roll-in shower and a bathtub when it is really one or the other but there is no way to tell which). Sometimes there's no information. 2) Whenever I have tried to book a room with points or a rewards certificate, a message has appeared that said "You can choose an accessible room later," but it doesn't actually provide that option. 3) Sometimes a confirmation email will say that a mobility-accessible room is guaranteed. Other times it says it's not guaranteed. What is the point of reserving a mobility-accessible room if it's not guaranteed? If I can't get a wheelchair-accessible room, I can't stay at the hotel! When will Marriott start treating accessibility like a requirement (legal and otherwise) instead of an amenity? 4) In light of 1-3, I knew I would need to call to make a reservation at this hotel with points. The person I spoke with said that she made sure a specific mobility-accessible room with a bathtub would be assigned to us. (Room 411) (The actual room was 329 though.) 5) Again, due to previous experiences with hotels, I called the front desk of the Beverly Hills Marriott to confirm that they have wheelchair-accessible rooms with bathtubs and that one would be available for the night we needed it. The person I spoke with told me that they don't have any wheelchair-accessible rooms with bathtubs. 6) I called the front desk again later to ask follow-up questions and come up with a new plan of action. The person who answered the phone this time said they do have wheelchair-accessible rooms with bathtubs. 7) When we arrived, the first person we spoke with at the front desk said they do not have wheelchair-accessible rooms with bathtubs. I told her that other employees had assured me that they do. She told us again that they don't. I asked if she could find us the type of room we needed at another Marriott location in the area. Then she told us she would check with someone else at the hotel to make sure they don't have any wheelchair-accessible rooms with bathtubs. Surprise! They DO have a wheelchair-accessible room with a bathtub! She told us there is exactly one in the hotel. 8) When my husband asked about using the lift for the pool, he was told that they don't have a lift. Since we saw that there was a lift for the pool and the hot tub, he told the employee that they do. Eventually, that employee said that Mr. Allen could help. He got a battery for the lift and helped us to use it. So, we did get the accessibility features that we needed, but it was a real ordeal to get them. There is so much room for improvement here, Marriott!!! The front desk person told me I was chosen to be an ambassador for our stay and would have free access to the Club M lounge, which had snacks, appetizers for happy hour, an espresso machine, and a breakfast buffet. I suspect that my "being chosen as an ambassador" was a gesture of apology for the hassle, but she didn't say that. The free breakfast was great (eggs, bacon, pineapple, strawberries, toast). My husband asked if they had gluten-free bread, and they got him some. It was excellent bread. The room itself: The bathroom was great. There was room to maneuver my wheelchair. The bathtub side was low. There was good water pressure and temperature, and there were grab bars by the toilet and bathtub. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash on the wall would be impossible for anyone to reach while taking a bath unless they could stand up. I brought my own so this wasn't an issue for me, but I'm mentioning as an FYI. The room was small, but there was adequate room to maneuver my wheelchair. The bed was very comfortable. As others have mentioned, we heard traffic noise from the street down below. I was surprised how loud it was and how many cars were on the road at 4:00am. I brought a white noise machine and wore ear plugs, which helped some. The valets were very kind and helpful, even providing water bottles on a hot day. All in all, I would consider staying here again if there was a good reason I needed to be in Beverly Hills and I had enough points to cover a room. Read less

Lovely stay here with my teenage nephew and young son. Hotel room was a double double and this was of a good size and after a room change request we had a pool and street view which was nicer. Beds were fitted with mattress toppers which were nice and comfortable. We were greeted and checked in by Augusto who was very welcoming, cheery and incredibly helpful. We played the spin the wheel game at the desk upon check in and we won a M club upgrade which was absolutely wonderful and a blessed bonus to our stay. I recommend this addition definitely for more than a few days stay. Alexis (ia) at the front desk was also very lovely too. Pool and jaccuzi area so loveky and the fire is beautiful on an evening. Cons- I stayed here when it was the Crowne Plaza many moons ago and it appears there has been no room updates as the rooms were incredibly dated with shabby damaged dated furniture and stale smelling carpets that were covered in hairs (not ours) The duvet cover does not have a quilt sheet but instead two sheets below and above which will save on time for the maids changing the covers but made me cringe everytime I woke and the uncovered duvet was touching my skin as it will have touched many other people too and is not hygenic nor of the standard expected. The sofa in the room was covered with two big wet patch stains which appeared to be wee, this was advised would be steam cleaned however I am not sure it was as it did not change. Overall it was a really nice stay with our beds made and rooms tidied every day. On our return to the UK I noticed a £1600 charge on my credit card which after a lot of worry stress and international calling fees at £5 per minute 😭 I was informed the charge was incorrectly applied and had already been reversed. All is sorted now however but was a stressful couple of days. How do we add our stay points to our account as I cannot figure this out? Thank you Read less

That being said - The forced valet parking was extremely expensive and after a while we stopped tipping them because it was costing too much. Their service dropped when they realized this. The room was very dark, no kleenex, toilet paper was half used up. The noise from traffic was loud. We stayed a week and never had the maids clean the room for fear of theft. The food was expensive and not very good. We only ate there once. Incidentals were available but there were no prices on anything. The only coffee maker in the room was hidden in the cabinet and no coffee cups. No ice available except downstairs in the lobby. We did not even try the pool or workout room. Definitely not worth the price. Read less
