Good stay, sometimes confusing

Decent solo stay at The Shay. Location is convenient - took less than 30 minutes to drive from LAX.
Parking was steep ($50) but such is life in LA. There are no nearby lots to reserve on SpotHero, etc. Valet service was friendly and quick.

Decent solo stay at The Shay. Location is convenient - took less than 30 minutes to drive from LAX.
Parking was steep ($50) but such is life in LA. There are no nearby lots to reserve on SpotHero, etc. Valet service was friendly and quick.
As with many modern hotels, the lobby is confusing and feels like you’re always being sold something. Whether spa products or coffee, they will sell it to you. The check-in desks are tucked away in a nook, and it felt crowded if more than one person was checking in. Finding the elevators was a bit odd.
The room was clean and furnishings were in good condition. My biggest complaint is the lack of sound insulation between floors - I had loud “neighbors” above me who insisted on walking on their heels… nothing the hotel can really do, but disappointing nonetheless.
The highlight of the room was the shower. Took a minute to figure out, but OMG. Fantastic. I have thick hair so I’m wary with most showers (they usually don’t have enough pressure) but this was PERFECT. Large shower area didn’t hurt either.
Bed was comfortable, no issues there.
The rooftop pool was nice, but again, awkward. You have to walk through the restaurant/lounge area in your bathing suit/robe to get through to the pool. The water was comfortably heated, making it pleasant despite the chilly evening.
All in all, a solid stay if you can get a decent rate. I redeemed Hyatt points for this stay, and while that meant I got a room facing the metro track (which runs all night, but not too loud), the value was still there.

Culver City gem of a hotel

It's rooms are spacious, bed is comfortable, and it's staff is very helpful. Well located and can walk to many things in Culver City. Ubers come quickly. Not far from the airport. My fav place to stay, in my past 10 trips to LA , I've stayed there 8 times.
Great hotel

Really rate this hotel, rooms are spacious and top quality. Great rooftop bar & pool and a small but decent gym. . Nice safe neighbourhood with some decent local restaurants & bars. Some noise from the trains but got used to it quickly. Bar could stay open a bit longer

The Shay is a clean, modern and well-appointed hotel in a great location. Rooms were good sized, beds comfortable and the shower was great with all the amenities you need. Staff was professional and friendly. We only stayed one night but were very pleased and would return when in LA!
