Very nice Marriott that felt freshly renovated. The hotel also has a central location walkable to most tourist areas in Monterrey. We also found the staff to be very friendly especially the housekeepers were very smily and quick to greet you with a good morning or hello

We had a great time at the Marriott Monterey! The hotel was clean, quiet and in a great location (walkable to great restaurants, Fisherman’s Wharf and the beach). Our kids enjoyed the pool, and the staff were very kind to our kids—when we were unloading upon arrival, our toddler took a tumble and was crying. The hotel manager swooped in with mini stuffed animals for all three of our kids, totally turning the moment around for our toddler and making our kids feel very special and welcome. This Marriott was a joy to stay at. This Marriott was a joy to stay at. I let them know ahead of time we would be celebrating a special occasion and they went the extra mile to make the trip excellent, even though they were totally sold out. All of the staff is super kind and offering to help and be helpful-- they make you feel like you are very important. My child was given two small sea stuffies which were very kind of them to give. We did get to enjoy breakfast at the buffet and there is a great selection. We took advantage of the pool and hot tub. The pool is nice and warm even first thing in the morning. The staff is very attentive to the building, cleanliness and keeping the place in shape. The rooms was great-- large and clean, even though we were just in a basic room. We had an issue with accessing the wifi and the technician who came to our room to help went above and beyond. The location is excellent-- central to the wharf and downtown-- we walked most places. The city lots are just $12 a day too which is convenient and close by. I have stayed at the Monterey Plaza and Portola, which are lovely properties-- I did feel the most welcome at the Marriott though! Only con: I wish there were stairs that could easily get you from the lobby to the room floors so you didn't have to rely on the elevator. Read less

I can't stress enough how overpriced this hotel is. $715 for a 2 queen "city" view room is so unbelievably ridiculous. We stayed one night and had we booked for add'l nights we would have, for sure, left early. The positive: the staff is very nice, very friendly. The front desk and the servers at the restaurant... all very helpful, kind people. But this hotel is 3 - 3.5 stars at best and they're charging as if they're 4 - 5 stars. I booked a room in Hawaii last year for only $200 more at a 4.5 star RESORT. Judging from who else was staying at this hotel, they seem to charge more because they have a lot of business travelers. But the room, the overall feel of the hotel does NOT meet up with this price. Also note: the room has mostly all hardwood floors (except for carpet directly underneath the beds) so you can hear your upstairs neighbors (and even next door neighbors) clomping around. I realize hardwood is easier to clean, but it's NOT fit for hotel rooms. Unfortunately we won't stay here again. I wish we had booked the Hotel Abrego which is where we stayed last time. Read less
