Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa

The accounting and front desk are HORRIBLE. Called, physically went there to confirm reservation and payment and after 4 follow calls... still charged my guests. Blamed it on their system overriding my credit card number. That makes no sense.. since I was called during the check out process and verified with the front desk about my cc info. I am tied up with my daughter's wedding for a few hours and get 7 missed calls from the Hotel and my aunts (guests) I call the hotel and talk to the supervisor.. he needs to confirm/ collect my credit card. Are you serious??? I ask.. what can be done to re-establish my confidence to use the hotel again... and his response.." Well.. if you send me your email.. I'll send you a receipt. Otherwise.. nothing." 5 Star Hotel??? So uncomfortable.. inconvenient.. and absolutely unprofessional. Read less

Yamilex from the front desk check-in was the absolute most pleasant and helpful individual. She was friendly and welcoming and so helpful! Trent from Valet was super helpful as well and so kind! We went back in 2000! When it was still a Best Western. I don't know how the food is now, it was great then! But what I do know is that at high tide you can feel the waves hitting the pilons holding up the hotel. Very breezy, crashing waves, it had a lot of wild energy. Oh, and if you put your dinner trays outside your door for pickup, seagulls the size of raccoons would come and carry any leftover food away. HAHAHAHA. Read less

Our weekend at the Monterey Plaza Hotel was unparalleled. The stunning views of the bay greeted us the moment we stepped onto the property, making us feel as though we were truly sleeping over the sea. The tranquil sounds of waves lapping against the shore lulled us to sleep, while our expansive balcony front row seat to the playful dance of otters and seals below kept us endlessly captivated. We didn’t want to leave the room! The hotel itself exudes luxury at every turn. The attention to detail in the décor and amenities spoke to the hotel’s commitment to providing an exceptional experience. The customer service at Monterey Plaza Hotel was unmatched. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our every need was met with warmth and professionalism. Their dedication to making our stay perfect was evident in every interaction, making us feel valued and cared for like nowhere else we have stayed before. Leaving was the hardest part of the experience, as we wanted to stay in this sanctuary forever. Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is a beautiful hotel in a stunning location, right on the Monterey Bay. We looked at several area hotels since we were meeting up with friends in Carmel and Pebble Beach. It was a short drive from the Monterey Airport and easy to get to. The valet who greeted us first also delivered our bags and gave us some great ideas for our free time. The valet service was always available and so professional. All of the staff we met during our four-day stay were friendly and helpful. Our room was not just clean, it was sparkling. The views of the bay are spectacular and there was so much activity in and around the water. Our favorites were the otters and the dolphins. Including binoculars in the room was a very thoughtful touch. From the hotel, we were easily able to walk into town for the shops & dining. When it rained, we used the free car service for a ride to & from the Aquarium. What a great service! The charcuterie tray we ordered for our arrival was delicious and VERY generous. There was live music in the open lounge every night and every day there were people working, cleaning, smiling and greeting us. Very busy place but not so busy that we ever felt rushed or crowded. On our last night we dined at Schooners and we sat right by the window to soak up that view. We asked our server if he ever gets tired of it and he said, “No - I love working here. It’s a beautiful place and the hotel is very good to us, we have a good group here.” This really says it all. It was evident to us every day that extra effort was being made. I’d definitely recommend the Monterey Plaza Hotel to anyone considering a stay in this area. Read less
