With a relaxed vibe and those intoxicating bay and ocean views, you’ll get the quintessential Monterey holiday at this waterfront boutique hotel. It has a privately-owned beachfront, ideal for making sandcastles and toasting s’mores by the bonfire. Keep the camera ready too — if you’re lucky you may spot seals, sea lions and breaching whales. The hotel's soulful tapas bar, with more sweeping views, serves up craft cocktails and beers on tap. And the casual waterfront restaurant is a great spot to watch the sun set over the water whilst tucking in to fresh seafood.

The ocean no longer sings

So disappointed. I've been coming here for years and have even worked remotely from here specifically because you could hear the ocean in your room. Not anymore. The hotel now has speakers outside blaring pulsing music for a faux-party atmosphere. Why? People pay premium prices because of the ocean - not to hear someone else's taste in music. If…

If you've got the location, why diminish it for your patrons? Let people wear ear pods if they want music.
If all you want to do is play on the beach for a bit, then save your money and go to a cheaper hotel and just come over to the beach (There are public parking lots and access on either side of the hotel.)
Two stars strictly for the remodeled rooms which are now overly bright with white walls and no longer feel cozy and coastal. Zero stars for drowning out the ocean with Taylor Swift.

Excessive fees. And they charged for communal self serve coffee in the lobby. Front desk refused to match price online when I tried to book two rooms. $40 parking fee.
Nice, but disappointed...

There was scaffolding all over, so a long path to our room. The pool was disappointingly closed. There was an extra charge at checkout for "resort fee/tax" and "parking fee/tax" for two nights for $148. An in-room coffee maker would be nice and the shower water was slightly above warm.
The room seemed recently remolded and nice.
Over promise, under deliver

I stayed 14 days for a work trip. The ocean side rooms have a truly stunning view, and the beach access is great. The garden view rooms overlook their dumpsters. Their website is false advertisement. They are still under construction and have zero additional amenities. They do, however, charge a resort fee of $25/day + tax for all of the in-progress amenities. The construction is occurring during all hours of the day, often right outside your window. The workers can’t help but look into your room. There is an additional $40/day+tax parking fee which is not disclosed up front. The rooms are small, but thoughtfully decorated. Odors easily travel from room to room, which can be unpleasant at times. Adequate stay, but wildly overpriced.
