The hotel

Escape to the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach — this retreat sits next to the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve so is ideal for a bit of walking, cycling or nature viewing. You'll be welcomed by 26-acres of lush landscaping, before the lobby and bar area lure you in with a calm, coastal California chic theme. Next to the lobby bar, the patio has a fire wall and magnificent views of the bay — and those views carry through to many of the guest rooms. Take your pick from three beautiful outdoor pools: chill at the adults-only 'Indulge' pool and find a restful spot at the 'Serenity' pool, or have fun with the kids at the 'Oasis' pool. Whether your passion is shopping, dining, boating, or performing arts, you’ll find it close by. Hit the beach, take to the water on Newport Bay, or wander the shops at Balboa Island and Fashion Island. Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the Aquarium of the Pacific and Laguna Beach are just a little further away.

Nice resort, a little iffy here and there. Generally, a good placed. I would suggest as family friendly. What is nice? Rooms were spacious, 3 fun pools, large attractive grounds, fun family friendly activates and games. What is iffy? The $40 parking includes a hike. I was hiking up the little hill one evening and a facilities cart with 2 rows of seating passed by me, how nice would it have been if they had stopped and offered a ride up to the lobby? $15 drinks should be tasty and should seem a quality product. Not sure why the pool bars was closed, but that caused some confusion with ordering and resulted in a long delay. Food options limited. The menu of the "Casual" dining option was the "Formal" dining option's lunch menu. And there are no places to eat within walking distance. A power washing of some of the public walkways would go a long way. A little bit of that kind of maintenance stuff. Overall A decent place to relax, plenty of room to bump around. Seemed like a great place if you have kids. If you're going to be there for a few days and spending significant time at the hotel, sort out yourself a little self-sufficiency. You might want to bring in some beverages, snacks, fruit... The rooms have little fringes. Read less

Not being treated well after complaints about the room management was not equipped to deal with my concerns in a compassionate manner

Loved our stay at the Hyatt Newport Beach! Very friendly and accommodating staff! So many amenities included in your stay. Multiple pools to chose from. The Shor restaurant had great food which made for an easy breakfast to get the day started!

Would use this hotel again. Kids loved the golf experience and waterslide. Food was excellent! Hotel room with balcony was spacious. Was a beautiful property. Only downside was parking. I should have paid the extra to valet instead of parking in Lower lot. Though bellman will take you to your car!
