Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa

Palm Springs, California

Virgin rating

The hotel

An oasis in the desert, you’ll find a huge range of things to keep you busy among the Hyatt Regency's 45-acres of perfectly manicured gardens. There’s seven different pools to cool off in, as well as a spa for a little more indulgence. If you’re a golfer, pick from two courses – and a pro can help iron out any kinks in your swing. Travelling with young ones? There are some great kids activities going on, as well as a family pool with a water slide. Maybe something more tranquil? The adults-only pool may be more your style – and maybe a cocktail by the pool at sunset followed by a tender steak.

We visited for the weekend, it was super hot in Palm Spring (around 115 during the day and 95 at night). The room was very clean, spacious, good amenity, A/C works well. I like how there are vending machine and hydration station through out the rooms and pools. The only improvement I think it needs is a better filtration system for the pools, the water seems a bit cloudy (probably way too many people were there?) and maybe pump in cold water to cool down the pool by a few degrees? We picked this hotel due to the water park experience but the ambiance of the place was negatively impacted by the number of people on day passes. So overcrowded it turned the hotel experience to a two star one.

I spent 4 nights at this resort with my family recently. I have been to the Bonita Springs Hyatt regency in peak season and had a great experience, this hotel was so poorly run that I will never return. The one bright spot of the weekend was that the Lantana staff is fantastic they are on top of everything, while the breakfast is expensive the staff was terrific and the F & V manager and Director were all incredible. If everyone at the hotel had been this great my review would be very different. The following is a list of issues I experienced during my stay, frankly I know the [pool complex is nice nut it is not worth the rest of the hassle. There are plenty of great hotel sin the greater Palm Springs area but unfortunately, this is not one of them. Cell Phone service is not consistent: We checked in and we had no service in the room we were assigned I had to step out on the balcony in order to receive any calls. I have Verizon and in 2024 there should be no issue with cell phone service at a hotel of this caliber, I had to switch rooms and the front desk acted like I put them out but I needed to receive work calls while I was at the hotel. Pool: Pool was so crowded that we could not find a chair, this would have been OK if the hotel was not selling passes to locals. Moreover, there were dozens of empty chairs with signs that said they had to be reserved for a fee, This was incredibly annoying because hotel guests pay a mandatory $45/day resort fee and then the hotel takes a huge number of available beach chairs and tries to sell them because they oversold guest passes. In addition, the pool ran out of towels. So Many Screaming Kids: There are a lot of families with small kids. I had a teenager and they originally put us in a room surrounded by families whose kids were crying. I noticed that the hotel kept the top 2 floors less occupied. Hotel Rooms have been remodeled but seem worn: The hotel claims that they remodeled the rooms but frankly they seem worn out already. Not enough EV chargers: The hotel has 6 Tesla chargers and 5 EV Chargers. They have a sign saying there is a 12 hour limit but they will not enforce the sign. There were literally 50 – 60 EV;s in the parking lot AND there were outside people coming into the parking lot to try to charge their vehicles. We could not get a spot and after 3 days when we finally did someone pulled up next to our car and stole the charger, The hotel was completely unresponsive and did nothing, It was miserable. A/C not working well: The A/C was not really working, It was unable to cool the room. The hotel knew about the issue and claimed they could do nothing. However, we opened our A/C and the filter was filthy and had not been changed for 7 months. Perhaps if the hotel replaced the filters regularly the A/C would work a little better. Mandatory Parking Charge: There is a mandatory parking charge for self parking ($30 or night) which the hotel DID NOT DISCLOSE AT THE TIME OF THE BOOKING. Peloton: The Peloton which requires Wi Fi was put in an area of the gym where there is spotty Wi Fi services which resulted in my class shorting out numerous times. Front Desk: We made numerous trips to the front desk to try to get them to address issues and they were not very helpful most of the time. Read less

This place did not meet our expectations. The customer service was horrible. The cleanliness of the restroom. We ended out stay early. The staff in the pool makes you feel like you can’t afford a cabana and know how to accommodate children with special needs.
