At check in, there was another person complaining that he had paid $1,400 for 4 nights and the hot tub was “closed for service” the whole time. The swimming pool gate was also broken, so everyone was advised “if you want to use the pool, call me andI I will come down from the office and let you in”. $275 for a room with no air conditioning,… Read more

The swimming pool gate was also broken, so everyone was advised “if you want to use the pool, call me andI I will come down from the office and let you in”. $275 for a room with no air conditioning, overlooking a parking lot next door. Had to sleep with the windows open listening to parking lot and freeway noise all night. Woodwork in the bathroom was water damaged. Not enough lighting in the room, so it was very dim after dark. We got a beautiful room with a view. It's definitely worth the $ for room to see the sea. Nice to have the hot tub & pool with outside chairs around fire pits. I wish they would clean around the windows (the ones that would open) and hose off the stairs & parking lot from all the bird poo poo. The front desk staff are SUPER nice & helpful. Read less

I wish I could be more positive about Cottage Inn. We have stayed at many motels on Pismo and Avila Beach but doubt we would stay again. Our room was exceptionally small, cramped and dark. A small selection for breakfast that you pay for. Most unusual here. No housekeeping unless you notified 24 hours in advance which we didn’t find about until we checked out. Apparent it was listed on the map. This property needs serious updating. The outside was very dirty although our room was clean. And surprisingly the beds and pillows were amazingly comfortable. Hence the 3 star rating. It is very convenient to the water but stairs are extremely steep. One last positive, it was quiet for being so busy! We were appreciative of that! Read less

This is our "Go To" stay in Pismo Beach. We've stayed here twice and loved it both times. Here's what we love about it. First, when you arrive, you're greeted at the front desk by people that are genuinely glad you're there, explain the amenities and get you off to a great experience. Next, the rooms are outstanding. We've stayed both times in building 5, which is right on the cliffs. The first time, we had a downstairs unit with a patio and that was excellent. Walk out your back door, and 15 more steps you're looking out over a cliff and the pacific ocean and all the way south of Pismo Beach. Spectacular. The second stay was on the second floor. While you don't have a patio or balcony, the view from your room is second to NONE! Gorgeous. When we arrived, we bought a nice bottle of wine from their bistro and sat out in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the ocean and watched the sun go down. But here's the added bonus. Leaving the windows open all night to listen to the sound of the waves and the cool pacific air. Sleep like a baby. The rooms are very clean and the bed is SUPER comfortable as well. Nice fireplace in the room if you're looking for some ambiance. Bathrooms were clean and functional and the coffee maker in the room is great for the mornings. Starbucks coffee no less! Kudos to the Cottage Inn by the Sea Management and Staff. We'll be back! Read less

Lovely location and rooms were lovley. Janice on reception is lovely and very chatty. Only downside is that we are still waiting for our deposit to be given back to us on our card from 2 weeks ago. But other then that everything was just what we needed
