The hotel

Just steps away from the white sands and surfboards of Southern California, the Seabird Resort is a coastal estate in which you can relax, eat and drink, and get pampered to your hearts content. The hotel offers a beach concierge service with chairs, umbrellas and other essential supplies for you. The standard rooms are spacious, plenty of which offer ocean views - but if you're travelling as a larger group then the suites offer expansive balconies, large soaking tubs, and that extra bit of luxury for your stay. At the Shore Room you'll find iconic views, ocean delicacies, and craft cocktails - often accompanied by live acoustic music sets on 'Sparkling Sundays'. Sunny's Spa and and Beauty Lounge is on hand, whatever treatment you may be after, or relaxing on the chaise lounges around the pool could be enough for you! The hotel is next door to the sister resort, Mission Pacific Hotel, which offers a rooftop bar with live DJ sessions if you're looking for a more lively evening out.

The Seabird was beautiful and the location was perfect. It was close in proximity to other restaurants and a quick, easy walk to the beach. The stay was very expensive but well worth the money in my opinion.

Almost hate to make this place even more desirable, but this is an excellent choice if your goal is to relax, feel pampered, hear the ocean and feel its breeze, stroll the beautiful sandy beach, eat fantastic food, and meet the most friendly people. This resort has it all and then some!

I took a mother daughters trip here and got the best room possible. I think it was called grand estate suite? You walk in and you are completely blown away! It is incredibly gorgeous. It should have been perfect. However, they just are not up to the task. This is the kind of room that has a Butler’s pantry. It was not stocked at all. We often stay in rooms like these and ahead of time we are able to tell them what we would like to have in our Butler’s pantry, such as particular sodas, etc. Mind you this room is several thousands of dollars per night. As others have mentioned, the mattress was awful and on our first night there, as we were ready to crash, we realized we could not sleep in that squeaky bed and I had to call housekeeping and they had to come up and take the plastic cover off of the mattress. Absolutely insanely ridiculous! I asked why they even have that and she said because a lot of families stay there and so this protects the mattress. another huge problem is the pool is way way way too small for the hotel when it is at full capacity. The best thing about this hotel is how nice every single person is. The beach is not great at all. While we were there, some sort of rally was going on and it was VERY loud. There was also a movie at the pool, which was extremely loud. It sounded like it was in our room. Please don’t stay in this room. As gorgeous as it is, the price versus the negative aspects is not at all worth it. You can use the pool at the sister hotel. At both pools, our whole weekend, we could not get a seat! I sat on the very hot concrete one day, as did others. This is really wrong! The food is so mediocre. It’s sad because this could really be a fabulous place, but it is not. I felt gypped and duped. The area is not good. There were loud cars cruising constantly. I wish San Diego had a good beachfront resort. Read less

This used to be our favorite hotel for quarterly weekend getaway but it has gone down in both service and uniqueness. The hotel seems to focus on being the chain instead of the niche that brought it the charm and level of service that brought repeat guests.
