The hotel

Put yourself slap-bang in the middle of some of San Francisco’s most fashionable theatres, restaurants, and sights. The boutique Marker Hotel is a great base — and its energy matches its setting. It was built in 1910 but you can still see its ‘Beaux Arts’ beauty in the lobby’s floor-to-ceiling fireplace and grand marble staircase. The hotel’s anything but olde-worlde though, with little touches like WiFi, and a Hydration Station providing fruit and herb infused water on tap.

Where is it

In the Tenderloin/Lower Nob Hill area of San Francisco, near Union Square’s shopping, the theatre district, museums, and endless dining. The hotel is also close to the Financial District and Moscone Convention Center. Transfer time from San Francisco International airport: 15 minutes.

201 rooms and suites on 7 floors. All with flat-screen LCD TV with on-demand movies, WiFi access*, iHome alarm clock radio, telephone, honour bar* (stocked with gourmet and organic treats), safe, hairdryer, bathrobes, iron and board. In-room Yoga & Wellness Kits available (on request, subject to availability). Queen Rooms have 1 king-size or 1 queen-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Deluxe Rooms with 1 king-size bed, 1 queen-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Junior Suites feature a living room and bedroom with 1 king-size bed and 1 queen-size sleeper sofa, sleeping maximum 4 adults.

Tratto (restaurant and bar serving rustic Italian fare, open for breakfast, dinner and drinks, with daily happy hour). Complimentary morning tea and coffee (in lobby Living Room, 7:00-10:00am). The Marker Hotel is a great place to stay in the Union Square precinct of San Francisco From the moment you step into the elegantly designed lobby, you're enveloped in sophistication and warmth. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, with luxurious bedding, modern amenities, and large windows. The staff are consistently professional and friendly, and the on-site Italian restaurant offers excellent cuisine and cocktails. Located in the heart of the city, the Marker provides easy access to shopping, dining, and all other SF attractions. Read less

He was extremely polite and very generous with us and offered to assist me with my request with a smile on his face which brightened up our trip. This trip is particularly special for my partner and I as we just graduated medical school and it was also my partner’s birthday. We are extremely grateful for his assistance and pleasant manner at the front desk. I look forward to staying at the Marker again and will be recommending my other colleagues who will be coming for various medical conferences next year to stay. My partner and I stayed for 5 nights ( as a break from our anniversary trip from the UK to Las Vegas) and it was the best decision to stay at The Marker. Bedroom facilities were comfortable and clean and shower/ soaps very good quality. All staff including reception / management and housekeeping could not have been more helpful and all contributed to a memorable experience of San Francisco. We ate in the restaurant just 1 night and food was exceptional and the only reason we didn’t eat there again was because we wanted to experience other restaurants during our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel - it is in a perfect location for transport links & shopping . Do not be put off by the tragic homeless situation - we never felt threatened or concerned as this is now a major issue in a lot of cities. The Marker is definitely a place to stay and would like to say a big thank you to all the staff. Read less
