First off, I'm grateful to be here in Maui and feel weird complaining. BUT, never in the 7 years of coming to the Hawaiian islands with my husband for his tax conferences have we stayed in such a run down, noisy place. This has also been the most expensive place we've stayed at so far. They didn't give as much of a discount as all of the other amazing places we've stayed at including The Ritz Maui, The St. Regis Kaui, and the Grand Wiliea in Kaui). I usually like to sleep in and work and do some reading in the quiet of my hotel room for a few hours before I go out to the pool or beach. But imagine my surprise when the first morning I was awakened at 6:00 am from the birds in the atrium (all rooms open to the atrium in the middle) and hammering in the parking lot on either side of my room. Then, a few hours later the jackhammering started just outside my room and went on for hours. Even putting in my noise canceling headphones and putting on some meditation music wouldn't drown it out. This went on for days. The jackhammering wasn't constant, but happened most days. The staff were all great, and the property is really beautiful, but we won't come back here again.

The resort was absolutely beautiful although part of the pool was under construction! The food was great although pricey! Staff were very friendly and accommodating for my wife and I! We came out on a visit for our honeymoon and loved visiting the island. Would definitely come back.
Renovation at the hotel impacted our stay

We went at a time when there was construction going on at the property. It was noisy inside the hotel as well as next to the pool area where major renovations were being carried out. Staff was nice and friendly.
At regency club, we expected the food to be of better quality but it felt like were eating heated up frozen food from costco.
Overall,…

Overall, the location and pool are great but just the timing for us was bit off with so much construction.

Pros: lobby & room # 2223 were nice, swans and ducks were cool, lounge was nice.
Cons: construction throughout day on pool grotto pass-through (try to picture temporary large tarp / wooden wall) & penguin habitat due to water leak into Japengos (no one could tell me when it was expected to be completed); likely smallest beach in Kaanapali and…

Cons: construction throughout day on pool grotto pass-through (try to picture temporary large tarp / wooden wall) & penguin habitat due to water leak into Japengos (no one could tell me when it was expected to be completed); likely smallest beach in Kaanapali and had a lot of rocks so need to be careful. If GOH or Globalist, remember 4:00pm checkout is not guaranteed. When I politely pushed to then be moved to a regular suite so I could have a checkout til 4:00pm, considering I was already staying in the presidential suite, the person felt the need to point out that although I was staying in the presidential suite, I was doing so at a highly discounted rate of $1,500/nt plus 30k points per night. I was polite and told them I would check in later. The next morning they allowed me to switch our last day to a small suite so we could stay til 4:00pm but they definitely did their damage with pointing out that they were basically doing me a favor by giving me the rate I was given.
