Queen Kapiolani Hotel

Honolulu, Oahu

Virgin rating

The hotel

Named after the beloved wife of Hawaii’s last king, Queen Kapiolani is something of a Waikiki landmark, paying homage to Hawaii’s majestic heritage and unique culture with a modern twist. Overlooking the sandiest stretch of Waikiki Beach, guests can enjoy stunning views of Diamond Head from the balconies of their newly renovated rooms, each and every one of them furnished in breezy Island style. As a change from the beach, laze beside the pool instead, dipping in every now and again to cool off. Although there are restaurants all around you, the hotel’s own Kulana is highly recommended, not just for buffet favourites but for its sweeping panoramic views! Pre-dinner, chill awhile at the Deck Pool, sipping on your favourite cocktail – a Mai Tai perhaps?

Stayed on Oahu for only one night of our Hawaii trip so we could visit Pearl Harbor. Picked this hotel at random as we wanted something with a pool that was close to the beach- the Queen Kapiolani was perfect. Our room was on the 18th floor overlooking diamond head and the beach, it was clean, quiet, nicely decorated and comfortable. Pool/deck/restaurant area is gorgeous and the food was great. More than any of that, all of the staff from check in, luggage storage, house keeping, waitstaff was absolutely top notch. We hit some snags due to an unforeseen health issue and the staff made it all so much better. Will be coming back for sure. Read less

The check in was very smooth. They also have baggage delivery and pick up services. All the staff are very friendly. Our room was upgraded to the Ocean View room. View from the room was splendid. The location was very convenient, close to the zoo and Waikiki beach. Overall, a very good stay.

Wonderful hotel with an amazing view. The rooms were small but the hotel itself has been beautifully redone and updated. The beds do need the be updated with a memory foam topper or something they seemed old and firm. Housekeeping was phenomenal and our room was always serviced before we got back every day. The beds do need the be updated with a memory foam topper or something they seemed old and firm. Housekeeping was phenomenal and our room was always serviced before we got back every day. Also this is a VERY dog friendly hotel, so if you are allergic beware. We saw over 20 different dogs during our stay. The only downside is the HIGH fees, we left with over $400 in resort fees and valet charges for a 4 night stay. Budget accordingly before booking this hotel. Read less

When I arrived they gave me a packet of Hawaiian cookies which I thought was great and wished me a happy birthday. Then surprisingly they said they had upgraded me to a premium ocean view room. This was at no extra cost! When I entered my room I was go smacked! The view was sensational. I couldn’t believe my luck! I had such an amazing night’s stay thee and was disappointed I couldn’t spend more time at the hotel. Thankyou to whoever upgraded me! It was an amazing surprise. Read less
