We hosted a meeting last week. The hotel staff were so on point, it's like they could read our minds. Exceptional service.

All the activities were full and had limited space. So we didn’t get to try any. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Staffs were not welcoming.

I’ve reviewed this hotel before and would like to have maintained my 5-star rating. The 5-star still applies to the amazing facilities, grounds, location on lake, private beach (now with significantly upgraded beach service), one-hr free kayak or paddleboard usage, free shuttle to Flume Trail hike to monkey rock, great food and lots of options at Cuthroat saloon, comfy beds, great water pressure/temp in shower and nice rooms w/good A/C, welcome beer/champagne, dog friendly etc..); HOWEVER, I’m downgrading to 4-star due to: 1) a decline in level of service at the pool area (numerous times on all three days at pool), mid-day, I had to walk to counter to order our own drinks or food) and extremely slow to pick up bag of trash after we finished; 2) change in menu and ambiance at dinner on outdoor patio, now a very limited menu, exclusively upscale Italian (i.e. no pizza or simple spaghetti & meatballs) and much more expensive than before (avg plate probably $40); 3) blackjack tables are all minimum $25 bet (it was $10 when we started going there, went up to $15 a few yrs ago, now at $25, you see empty tables with dealers waiting for someone to play, but half or less players than usual…we used to play on average 6-8 hours per trip, now we’re stuck only paying video poker); 4) long-awaited rehab of Lone Eagle Grill at beach has never materialized; 5) they took away the ping-pong a few years ago and maybe a year ago closed the game room/arcade; 6) Cuthroat saloon, as good as the food choices are there, they close at 10pm…no food for gamblers after 10?; 7) drink service has slowed dramatically at slots/video poker-one night we played for about two hours and nobody ever came, another night, in 2 hours, they took one drink order; 8) the main pool temp was set at 90 degrees-way too hot to climb in for a cool-down; and finally, 9) small item, but the lotion in the rooms leaves much to be desired-watery-like my wife said, they should have lotion that you want to buy…not so much. We will go back again (hoping this is just transition in ownership to Larry Ellison a few years back) since this has been our favorite hotel on earth for years and the pros still by far outweigh the cons, but I’m hoping other guests will be vocal about all these changes/downgrades and Ownership listens and makes some changes. Beautiful resort with lots of amenities including a pool region with hot tub, swimming pool and bar area. Also includes beach dedicated to the Hyatt which is across the road and about a 5 minute walk from hotel. Beach has amenities such as kayaking, beach yoga, paddle boards and two restaurants. Love the resort and the location. Staff are excellent! We are currently here and I felt compelled to write this review now. My only NEGATIVE comment is the walls in the rooms are paper thin. Our "neighbours" have young kids and while I get kids need to be kids, I can distinctly hear their loud conversations or their TV blaring at 0600 in the morning up till 11:30 pm at night. Also the continuous running up and down the hallway of many young children on our floor gets a bit much after a while. Not an issue when we our of the room but when we want to sleep and are kept awake or awaken by others, gets a tad frustrating. I think the hotel needs to consider placing families with children on lower levels (given you can also hear jumping on the floors), and those who are couples/no children on the upper floors. That has been the only downfall of this vacation - is the lack of expected modicum of peace and quiet. One thing I definitely learned was to ensure to ask for a non-adjoining room. Hopefully noise transference would be less when it is a completely separate room. Suggest you do as well, if you don't want to hear your neighbours every convo whatever time of the day. Read less
