The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why. The accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Red for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

We stayed here for 3 days - while it was hot the hotel was great! Service was fast and friendly! Food delicious! and with a location you can't beat! Would recommend this hotel to anyone! While we didn't have our kids plenty of people did and the hotel was accommodating to everyone.

Fantastic place to stay again (3rd time ) it’s busy but it is vegas and so is everywhere . Room nice and clean , staff friendly , and I think it’s one of the only places with a pool and it’s fantastic , really really impressed , again so will be booking for next year also , it’s worth the 5800 mile flight !

The $5 tables are always available and almost all of the dealers are great. We enjoy playing table games and slots at the Golden Nugget, as it has the best atmosphere; busy, but not too busy, old Vegas vibes but nothing is dated. Food choices are also excellent. The Tank is a must see and my favorite pool to spend the day.

I stayed in the Golden Nugget last year and was happy to book a room again this year in the Carson Tower (my preferred place to stay in the GN). First issue you encounter is the queues at Registration. Although it was fairly long it moved along OK and I was soon sorted. However, waking past it every day during my stay I usually saw long queues. The casino is very busy and a bit cramped with a smoky atmosphere. The Poker Room was often busy but was well ran. My room was basic but clean and everything worked OK. Many reviews cite lack of house-keeping but after being told at check-in that the room would not have room service until Thursday (I checked in on Sunday) I was pleased to come back to my room each night (apart from one) to see it had been fully attended to. Having said that the hallway carpet on my floor was dirty and it seemed not regularly vacuumed. There were even some cigarette butts on the carpet for a number of days (even though the floor was supposed to be non-smoking). Also contrary to other recent reviews the lifts worked fine and I never had to wait more a few seconds for one to arrive. Neither was outside noise from Fremont Street a problem. Needless to say I intend staying at the GN again next year. Read less
