Civilian represents it’s local community with the rooms designed to evoke the ambience of theatre dressing rooms, and light fixtures with drawings of all 41 Broadway theatres, every last detail has been considered. 203 guestrooms across 27 floors, all featuring an eclectic art collection and vintage design details, along with air conditioning, safe, hairdryer, handheld steamer, organic bath products, TV. and complimentary WiFi access.Cozy Rooms are smaller in size with one queen-size bed sleeping maximum 2 people. 


Two twin beds or two queen-size beds can be requested at an extra cost

Spacious rooms are larger in size with views of Hudson Yards or the Theatre District, with either 1 king-size bed, 1 queen-size bed, or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults. 

2nd Floor Lounge (open for breakfast daily, and features a full cocktail bar open Thursday – Saturday evenings). Rosevale Kitchen and Cocktail Room (elevated American dining – opening soon). Starchild (rooftop lounge serving drinks and light bites – opening soon). 

TMPL Health Club* with gym, salt water pool, steam room and sauna located just one block north of the hotel.

Great location. Friendly staff. Bed and pillows are super comfy. Room was perfect for all my needs. Some may think its small but I disagree. Very smart layout to use space effectively. My first solo trip and I felt very safe in this hotel and general area. Thank you!

We booked the Civilian Hotel for our honeymoon and my birthday because it looked like a gorgeous hotel in a fantastic location. The hotel was also highly recommended by a friend who stayed there before. We were blown away by the stunning decor and the exposed brick facade when we arrived. Our bedroom was lovely and cosy. Our honeymoon was made extra by staff who wrote a lovely congratulations message to us on our mirror in the Irish language - that really meant a lot to us! We found the staff so lovely and accommodating. We had cocktails in both bars - the top floor bar has incredible views of skyscrapers! We also had brunch in the restaurant on my birthday which was delicious. The noise from the nightclub was only audible on Friday and Saturday, but the position of our bedroom made it not so bad. We'd a really wonderful time visiting New York and we'd love to stay in the Civilian again. Go raibh maith agat (thank you) ! Read less

Absolutely loved this hotel! The staff were amazing, truly making our stay special. The decor was stunning and the atmosphere in the bars and restaurant was electric. You simply can't miss it—especially the rooftop bar! It's an absolute must-visit!

We stayed at the Civilian hotel for 3 nights and what a brilliant 3 days we had! The hotel is beautiful, the rooms spotless we booked a cosy queen so we knew it would be on the smaller side but we were not disappointed, the room was lovely it had everything we needed, 4 poster bed right next to the window with an amazing view overlooking New York. The hotel has a lovely theatrical vibe, the bar on the second floor has lots of theatrical memorabilia. The hotel is only a few minutes walk to time square and the theatres in Broadway it’s in a perfect location for walking around, we felt very safe. The staff are amazing so friendly and kind, nothing is too much trouble. We arrived off a cruise ship quite early at 10.30am, check in is 4pm, staff let us drop our bags off offered us free coffee on offer in the bar so we could sit and plan our day. On our last day, reception ordered us a taxi to the airport to arrive at 3pm, we were late getting back but I notified the hotel and they arranged for our bags to be ready at the door for us and notified the driver, impeccable service. The hotel also invites you to communicate with them on WhatsApp and ask how your stay is each day. Cannot recommend this hotel enough, we can’t wait to return. Read less
