The hotel

The Knickerbocker Hotel is a historic gem right in the middle of New York City's Times Square. Opened back in 1906, this luxury spot has been a go-to for celebrities and big names over the years. It's famous for its stunning Beaux-Arts architecture. After being closed for a while and going through some changes, it made a grand comeback in 2015 with a major renovation. Nothing to appreciate about it except its good location. Nothing else. Poor room setup, toilets poorly designed and small, zero customer orientation, no help provided, phones never answered, Lifts take forever. We went on our special occasion, forget about doing anything, they didn't even acknowledge it. Rude staff, just after tips. There are far… Read more

The Knickerbocker staff were excellent, as were the location and accomodations. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to do a getaway in NYC. Times Square is directly across the street, Grand Central is just down the street, and there are several public parking garages within a short walk. This was a perfect location for our… Read more

Satff is unfriendly and rude. They don’t mind the problems of the guests. Room need renovation! Our first room had a broken bathroom door. Because this is a major privacy issue we wanted to move to another room. Staff at the front desk told us we could move later that day. But he lied to us! Later we had to come up to front desk again! And the other guy told us that there is no free room available. And that he thinks that this is not an issue making a move necessary. Like first you lie to us then you don’t even care! That is not 5 star service ladies and gentlemen! The next day I had to come up to front desk again (!!!) and the issue seemed totally new to us but finally he could make a move happen. In our next room our fridge was broken and was leaking water. But ok… After that we moved again because we booked another room category for the last 2 nights. We packed our stuff and the personal should move our things. Turns out they did not! Everything was packed and everything was done but they didn’t do it. Instead they deactivated our keys to the room and called us. As we were on vacation we were in the middle of financial district and the guy from front desk told me we would have to come over right now and pack our things because they are not (as already said this was totally wrong!). As I told him I would be on a tour and would like to come back in like 1 or 2 hours he got very very rude! I had to stop my trip and head back to the hotel. Wasted almost 2 hours because of this! As already said the keys were deactivated so we did not have access to our stuff which was still in the old room. At the front desk you didn’t even apologise for it instead you told as that we would have spent way too much time. Just for your information it took 20 minutes to get back to the hotel. I went straight after the call. So we grabbed the packed up stuff ourselves and moved ourselves with our suitcase across the whole hotel. The new room was nice but AC was loud. And some lights were broken. Later our keys did not work again. Stuff was again very unfriendly and reacted quite pissed. Read less

Couldn’t be in a better position literally off Times Square and bang next to the subway station so you are good to start your adventure immediately. The concierge Diana was particularly helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her…awesome!! Would absolutely recommend this as a destination hotel. We had an amazing experience! Read less
