The hotel

There's a real resort feel to this Mission Bay hotel. On a 14-acre peninsula, the views are quite something, and you’re just steps from the the calm bay waters. Head to the white sandy beach and grab yourself a beach cabana or take a stroll through the lush tropical gardens. The pool is a great spot too and the huge hot tub is just the ticket on a cooler evening. Don't miss an evening cruise around the bay on the Bahia Belle paddle steamer — there’s drinks, live entertainment and views galore.

The growing number of one star reviews are true… while this place has a ton of potential, sadly it is long overdue for a major renovation. The rooms are smelly, dark, and very dirty - stained mildewy carpet and torn furniture, moldy grout, stained toilets. We checked out several rooms and settled on the least dirty and smelly, but the three rooms we saw were all in very poor condition. The whole complex needs a major pressure washing from roof to concrete on every building. The exterior gardens are ok, and I can’t fault the pool area… it was pretty decent. I peeked into the small musty fitness center and just walked away given lack of cleanliness in the sleeping rooms. It looked pretty poor. The private bay front beach is probably the signature feature - the big round beds are dirty and faded. The bay is nice for kids. We opted to head over to Mission Beach to swim in the ocean and enjoy the sunset. We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant… again if the rooms are this shabby, how’s the kitchen? There are many great rentals in the area with all the water sports equipment or other hotels in the area. This was terrible value for the money. Read less

We had a great time staying at the Bahia and look forward to our next stay! At the front desk, Vanessa was friendly, and professional. We had a larger party and she made checking in to our 3 rooms a breeze! Thank you Vanessa for starting our vacation on such a high note and really setting the tone for our stay at the Bahia!

Planning to go soon booked for late August. Diante in Reservations was super accommodating and helpful in booking my room and made a good experience. Fingers crossed that the actual on site experience hotel will meet the same expectations.

The location of the hotel is good for the Mission Bay area. The grounds needs to be kept cleaner, especially the lobby/game room. One big plus is the hotel has its own private beach/sandy area w ample chairs and cabanas. But - there is no server to help take your orders and there is no upkeep of the area. We were there for a few hours and did not see any staff walk by or even cleaned or tidied the area. Here is my complaint and where I am very unhappy. I have stayed at many 4-5 star resorts ranging from Hyatt, Hilton, IHG and Four Seasons. For the price that I paid Queen Suite, the suite did not have a view of the bay. There is no central AC in the room. It was only ONE SINGLE wall unit for the living room area…there was no AC in the bedroom!!! That is totally not acceptable. It was miserable for me and my 6 year old. The bedroom was stuffy and gross. We felt like we lacked oxygen/air the whole night. The room needs updating badly…everything is outdated. And every time I tried calling the front desk, housekeeping or room service there was a busy signal!!! This was all day long even up until now as I write this review at 12:12 am in my room. Besides housekeeping I did not really see staff on property grounds — so no help at all on answering my questions. Read less

Awesome staff! Ben at the front desk was amazing, very welcoming and friendly. Ben has a great personality and exceptional communication skills. We had a phenomenal experience. First time here in Bahia but definitely wouldn’t be last. Highly recommended.
