The Marker Hotel - Union Square

Union Square, San Francisco

Virgin rating

The hotel

Put yourself slap-bang in the middle of some of San Francisco’s most fashionable theatres, restaurants, and sights. The boutique Marker Hotel is a great base — and its energy matches its setting. It was built in 1910 but you can still see its ‘Beaux Arts’ beauty in the lobby’s floor-to-ceiling fireplace and grand marble staircase. The hotel’s anything but olde-worlde though, with little touches like WiFi, and a Hydration Station providing fruit and herb infused water on tap.

We stayed for a few nights pre-cruise. On arrival we were impressed by the hotel lobby which is beautiful, check in was quick and friendly. We arrived late after a long flight and was a little disappointed there wasn’t anywhere to have some food and a drink but understood. Our room was great, clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The hotel was in a great location for walking to Union Square. The front desk staff were helpful and were happy to give recommendations for bars and restaurants and helped us with directions to various areas. We had breakfast included which was from a set menu, this was lovely as was the service. We ate in the restaurant one evening, the food was delicious and once again the service was great. We would recommend this hotel. Read less

An old hotel that has been refurbished beautifully. Very comfortable rooms and beds, walking distance to many attractions, and public transportation. Excellent staff, professional, and caring, including Melinda at the front desk. The voucher for a free glass of wine in the restaurant was an added bonus
