Fairmont Dallas

Dallas, Texas

Virgin rating

The hotel

A jewel in the downtown Arts District, Fairmont Dallas takes centre stage among cultural gems like The Dallas Museum of Art, symphony hall, and AT&T Performing Arts Center. Mixing the classic glamour you’d expect from a Fairmont, with that ‘larger-than-life’ Texas spirit, you'll find a Junior Olympic-size pool (with poolside dining in summer months), a lobby-level Starbucks, and the farm-fresh menu of Pyramid Restaurant, where the honey is even fresher — coming straight from the beehives in the hotel’s rooftop veg garden.

Worst experience of my life. Staff was fine. Building was falling apart. Wet carpets. Odd stains. And BUGS so many bugs… no one would tell me the truth of what was going on and whatever I was told was wildly untrue. first and last time at a fairmont. Never again.

Great stay in a nice room. Wonderful service personal. Professional and courteous. Only complaint is the cost of valet parking, over $50 per day 😑 Overall the hotel could use some upgrades to make it more modern. The valet parking was to much

I don't even know where to start This hotel is dated, dark, short staffed and smells like mold We paid for the upgraded 'gold level' experience which gets you access to an exclusive gold lounge on your floor that is supposed to have elevated breakfast, afternoon snacks and drinks (all complimentary except for the alcoholic drinks). The F&B offerings in the 'exclusive lounge' were poor at best if at all. One morning we went to grab breakfast and it was closed so the front desk said we could get breakfast complimentary in the restaurant. So a little while later we headed down and when we arrived there were people waiting to be seated, ok no problem. Except when it was our turn to be seated the host said it would be a 45 minute wait! The restaurant was empty! There were three tables eating, otherwise empty. At this point we opted to walk over to the Marriott for coffee and breakfast and dam we should have checked out of the Fairmont and into the Marriott! The AC in our room was so loud and did not cool well. It squealed, banged, grunted, started up and stoped. We did have the maintenance person come look at it on our second night and he turned the fan to low, removed and repositioned the filter and said it was good. It was NOT good Nothing at this hotel was good, well that's not true. Brandy the associate who worked the 'gold level' lounge was awesome! Everyday when we'd come back to the hotel our key would not work and so she would reprogram it daily so we didn't have to make the trip to the front desk. She was kind, attentive, thoughtful and always had a smile on her face. I don't know where they think the modern decor and updated suites were, that was not our experience. Disappointing experience, won't be back Read less

The pool elevator floor in our tower was closed, forcing us to inconveniently walk through the hotel lobby to access the other tower elevator to reach the pool. The pool elevator floor in our tower was closed, forcing us to inconveniently walk through the hotel lobby to access the other tower elevator to reach the pool. This awkward detour turned a 1-minute walk into a 5-minute trek, all while in our bathing suits. The pool itself was filthy, with hair everywhere—truly shocking! It was also challenging for older guests to enter the pool easily. Additionally, workmen were on our balcony over two days, which was disruptive. We voiced our concerns to the front desk, and the staff member assured us they would take care of us. However, we were not informed how. Upon checkout, we discovered a $50 bar credit, but we were already leaving. We couldn't tell if this was standard or compensation, but it was too late for us to use it. Moreover, our checkout invoice was hundreds of dollars over the original booking cost. Thankfully, I had taken a screenshot of my original booking, as I never received an email confirmation with any booking costs. To the credit of the front desk person, she corrected the issue cheerfully and without hassle. However, I wonder what would have happened if I hadn't been vigilant. I could have been overcharged without realizing it. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience for a 4-day stay. Read less
