The hotel

You could be forgiven for thinking the Apsara is only for water babies, with its beachfront setting, infinity swimming pool, villa pool, two kids' pools, pool villa upgrades, water slide and of course, the obligatory Jacuzzi. But there’s more to the Apsara than sun, sea and sand. Set in unspoilt tropical greenery, along Pakarang Beach, this All Inclusive haven offers a range of drinks and things to do. There’s the Thai cookery classes, Thai boxing, spa treatments, bike rental and kayaking to name but a few!

Where is it

In tropical Phang Nga, set in a secluded location along Khao Lak's Pakarang Beach. Transfer time from Phuket Airport: 1 hour 30 minutes.

The Resort Zone has 195 rooms and Villa Zone has 60 villas. All with private balcony or terrace, air-conditioning, TV, tea/coffee-making facilities, complimentary WiFi, safe, mini-bar*, fridge, bathrobes, slippers and hairdryer. Superior Rooms overlook the gardens or swimming pool and have 1 king-size or twin beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child or 2 adults and 2 children.

Board basis options

Bed & Breakfast: Kinnaree Restaurant (buffet) / Napalai Restaurant (buffet - Villa staying guest only).

Half Board option: (lunch or dinner): Kinnaree Restaurant (buffet) / Napalai Restaurant (a la carte - Villa staying guest only).

Deluxe Rooms have garden views, a spacious balcony, bathroom with combined bath and shower, with 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child or 2 adults and 2 children.

Pool Access Rooms offer a spacious private terrace with direct access to the pool, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Jacuzzi Villa feature a separate living and outdoor bath, with 1 king-size bed and sofa bed in the lounge, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child or 2 adults and 2 children.

Pool Villas feature a private swimming pool and sundeck, with 1 king-size bed and sofa bed in the lounge, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child or 2 adults and 2 children.

This hotel is classy. Food is in the Thai style obviously. Breakfast is full English, and European, joining the Thai tradition. Very fresh food and to a high standard. We had a deluxe room with a limited sea view and it was large and airy. Kept clean daily by the hard working staff. The hotel is situated on the beach and has an infinity pool. There are plenty of sun beds and a grassy area if you prefer it. There is also a swim up pool, which is catered for the rooms that have access to it, everyone can use the pool , and this is ideal if you prefer a shaded area which offers protection from the sun by large palm trees. There is no entertainment in the evening except a fire show on the beach once a week, and a Thai traditional dance the same evening. We went all inclusive, and the drinks are authentic and strong. There is also a large choice of cocktails. Overall, if you are looking for a quiet hotel to recharge and relax ,then you have found it. If you fancy a busier evening, get tuk tuk from the hotel into khau lak which costs 100bht per person. Great time in the very large market there. Read less

Please be assured that this hotel, it's staff and the surroundings, will not let you down - in one word it was FANTASTIC and the staff reaaly make it so whether they are front of house, restaurant staff, bar staff, cleaners, kitchen staff and chefs. The entire team, because it is a team, made our holiday so memorable and based on that we would recomend and defiently be back. Food - Spotlessly clean restaurants / bars serving a wide variety of differing foods that was excellent. The cook fresh option has differing choices at each meal setting with a wide variety of flavours and choices well worth a visit. Accommodation - clean, very spacious with lots of storage in the resort side. Cleaned daily. Staff - They are the friendliest, most helpful staff that you will ever come across and great no matter what time of day, with a friendly and helpful smile. Special mention in particular to Ray and Way in the restaurant and the bar staff who smile while making the most delicious cocktails. Trips - visit the market in Khao Lak which is an eye opener selling a variety of gifts and street food. A trip to the tsunami museum is also worth a detour as it gives an in depth insight into the devastating tsunami which had the highest death toll in Thailand. James Bond Island is a fantastic trip and worth going on along with a canoe ride around and in the limestone islands. Read less
