Great resort for honeymooners or retired people. Very little night life. The rooms are stunning and service is great. Food is by far the best we have experienced at an all inclusive resort. Beach and water was fantastic. It’s a shame that the bartenders, waiters/waitresses and cleaning staff are not allowed to accept tips.

My husband and I gave this resort a 7/10 rating. We took pretty much all into consideration. When we arrived at the airport, instead of making us wait for the next flight to arrive, they had a car take us to the resort. Ride was about 15minutes long, drive was nice. For us Americans they drive on the opposite side of the road. Check in was seamless, cold towel and rum punch was handed to us. They brought us to our room (bags were already there) map, quick run down of the resort was given and she left us to unpack. The room is slightly dated and could use some renovation. The furniture was scratched up, no rug, and the bathroom lighting had alot to be desired. There was an odor, that once we opened the closet we realized that there was mold with condensation drippings from the vent. We didn't complain, because honestly we don't spend much time in the room. View was nice as we looked out to a pool and hottub. The grounds throughout the resort were very well kept! Beach left a little to be desired as the seaweed was piled up along the beach and didn't get removed until Thursday we arrived on Monday. Water wasn't clear, however there was a storm brewing that actually hit other islands, and definitely could have just been due to the time of year we went. Service was great, slow but great; being on vacation there is no rush so it didn't bother us at all. The Pool on the mediterranean side was the largest pool, with a great pool bar, entertainment throughout the day and music playing. Fruit, and little nibbles were brought out so if you saw them you got lucky as the pineapple was delicious. There is a pub called the Drunken Duck... we got a kick out of the game room as the two pool tables have their quirks. One is slanted and the other has cornered pockets. Pool sticks need to be updated as well as the Dart Board (def has seen better days). We never ate here but had drinks and the bartenders always had a smile on their face! Marios we ate the first night, food was good, no complaints. GO TO SOY!! Such great sushi!!! I could have gone their every single day but didn't go until Wednesday. Eleanors had the best cook to order breakfast and the best crab cake at dinner. Throughout the property there was fire pits with seatings. Property was very clean and well maintained. Nightly entertainment was great!! Piano bar was very nice and we enjoyed our nights there. We enjoyed the resort very much. We are looking forward to staying at a different Sandals resort soon! Relaxing and entertaining all at the same time. You can make this trip perfect for anyone in your group. Highly recommend Neil, Kerin, and Marvin as the perfect butler team! Can’t wait for our next sandals trip! Don’t miss out on the snorkeling, the reefs are close by and full of life.

Great location, restaurants were all very good, particularly Bayside, Eleanors, Kimonos and Barefoot. The bars were disappointing though, one English style pub which wasn't that great and the beach bar was woefully understaffed by unhappy servers. The resort needs an outdoor casual bar area with nice seating, sadly lacking here. Evening entertainment was pretty good, the fire eaters and the band LCD were excellent, some others close behind. We spent all the time on the beach and there was no drinks service, you had to go to the crowded beach bar and be served randomly (eventually). This was very poor for this type of hotel. I would suggest deploying some of the nine (yes nine) staff in the small shop to become bar staff. Many people were unhappy with this. Going back to the beginning, we had originally booked a Caribbean Deluxe room through our agent, who called with 3 days to go to say that these rooms were being refurbished and Sandals would upgrade us to a Honeymoon Suite with a shared private pool. OK we said, that sounds great. However, the room was very dated and almost grubby and drab (see pictures), part of the 1993 original build I imagine so ready for a major overhaul. Very disappointing. This was not an upgrade and certainly not representative of a 5 star resort. If you want a 5 star benchmark, look no further than Secrets Akumal, Riviera Maya, Mexico. What a place that was and the accommodation was truly 5 star. Special shout out to a few people who made things run well and were very helpful and pleasant. Devon, Janet and Kimroy - well done you guys. There were many others too. Would we visit here again? No, but may try somewhere else on the island if we return. Would I book another Sandals resort? (this was our first). Maybe, but we would really need to understand the rooms first so some in depth research would be required. For the money, we thought this was too expensive, we expected much more but it just doesn't deliver on price. The location is fantastic, right on the beach and there are free snorkelling trips to the reefs which you must take up. Plenty of trip sellers on the beach day in, day out so be prepared for that, it can get tiresome. Other than that, we were pleased to have visited Antigua, perhaps one day we will return to another part. Read less

We had a great time at Sandals in Antigua. The hotel complex was excellent however the Honeymoon room complex we stayed at, next to the tennis courts, we tired and needed updating. We had a great time at Sandals in Antigua. The hotel complex was excellent however the Honeymoon room complex we stayed at, next to the tennis courts, we tired and needed updating. We had to ask every day, for our room fridge to be topped up. Twice I was given a glass with large chips in it. After 2 days we had to ask for room towels, as they were taken away but not replaced. The courtyard restaurant had no chicken for their wraps 2 days in a row. The food in the English bar was swimming in Oil and could not eat. These are silly little things but not expected from such a high quality expensive hotel. I left a list of things with the hotel reception when we checked out and heard nothing. I wrote to Sandals from the website and heard nothing. Clearly they are not interested in hearing notes on improvements. I go to the Caribbean every year and would have stayed at Sandals in Barbados next year but put off by their lack concern about the finer things have put me off. Read less
