The hotel

As the Mauritian drinks cart rolls up to serve you cooling cocktails, while you sink your feet into the white sands of Belle Mare beach after a dip in its turquoise lagoon, you’ll know you’ve arrived in paradise. In fact, it’s so jaw-droppingly gorgeous here, they’ve now reserved Sunrise Attitude exclusively for grownups. As much as you could spend every waking moment on the beach, there’s plenty more fun in store – whether you want to linger at the seaside with snorkelling and scuba diving on offer, or you prefer swimming in one of the two swimming pools instead. However, it’s the authentic touches that really make this Adults Only retreat unforgettable, from the island-inspired treatments at Spa Poz to once-in-a-lifetime cultural Otentik experiences like dining with islanders in their homes, and learning to make Mauritian curries with their local chef.

Where is it

At Belle Mare, on the eastern coast of Mauritius, just 50 metres across the road from the beach. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

Hotel information

153 rooms and villas. All rooms have air-conditioning, complimentary WiFi access, telephone, mini-bar*, tea/coffee-making facilities, safe, and hairdryer. Couple Rooms are located on the ground or first floor with a furnished terrace or balcony and 1 double bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

All Inclusive option includes: breakfast at The Market. Lunch at The Social House, The Market, Taba-J, or Papaya, Dinner at The Social House, The Market, or Kot Nou. A selection of local beverages including water, beer, tea, coffee, soft drinks, house wine, and locally manufactured alcohols and spirits. A selection of drinks and snacks at The Bulk Shop corner in Laboutik from 8:00am-11:00pm. Afternoon tea from 4:00-5:00pm (self service: pastries at Taba-J and local goodies near the main pool). Local snacks served with evening drinks. Picnic baskets for guests going out on daytime excursions. Optional breakfast, lunch and dinner in one of the other Attitude hotels (this offer is applicable to a selection of restaurants upon availability, 48h prior booking. Transfer not included). 20% discount on the first massage for bookings between 9:00am-2:00pm (minimum 5 night stay required). All activities unless otherwise stated.

Couple Partial Sea View Rooms are located on the first and second floors with balcony and 1 double bed (twin beds on request), sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Couple Swim Up Rooms are located on the ground floor and have direct access to a dedicated lap pool from a terrace, featuring 1 double bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Villas have a garden including a yard and private pool, and 1 double bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults

Social House Restaurant and Bar (International and local cuisine, open for lunch and dinner, with tapas style menu in the evening and regular live music). The Market (buffet restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with live cooking stations and international cuisine). Kot Nou (signature restaurant serving Mauritian cuisine, open for dinner 6 days a week upon reservation). Taba-J (street food beach hut serving local cuisine). Papaya (main pool bar, open for drinks throughout the day and light bites at lunch). Bar 31. Teabaz (tea bar). Beach service available. 

Evening entertainment includes live shows (daily) and a DJ (4 times a week).

Dress code at Social House: wet clothes, swimsuits and pareos are not accepted in any of the restaurants. After 6:30pm, no shorts, tank tops, singlets and flip slops are allowed in the restaurants. Elegant Bermuda shorts are accepted.

My husband and I stayed for 10 nights at Sunrise Attitude this November 2024 for our honeymoon. From the moment our taxi turned up at the front door we were so well looked after and have so many positive, happy memories from our time here. As all the reviews say, what sells this place is the fantastic staff. Every single person, whether it's the manager, barman, cleaner, maintenance person, gardener - they will always say hello with a smile of their face. Nothing was ever too much trouble - they are all attentive and genuinely care about making a good impression and selling their beautiful country, special mention to Vicky and his charmful humour every breakfast! The hotel itself is spotless. The decor is very modern but equally you it is nothing like the high rise hotels nearby, it's tasteful, appropriate, and simply settles into the environment it is around. It compliments the greenery with plenty of trees and there are so many hidden spots to relax and unwind - you can be in the thick of music and evening fun, or tucked up with a book at another bar. We were lucky to get a room upgrade halfway through our stay to a sea-view room - wow, these rooms are really lovely! The pools are clean and warm, and well maintained. Equally the beach feels very safe and we enjoyed the drinks here too. Walking along Belle Mare beach is a must, especially first thing in the morning or sunset. The food is brilliant, especially when it's a buffet service. We loved the nights at Kot Nou, they made it feel a bit more special. All the bars are lovely and serve a mix of drinks. We were all-inclusive and this includes nearly everything on the menu, you won't be bored of cocktail options! The activities that are included with your stay are well worth doing - we partook in cooking lessons, snorkelling, water polo, rum tasting, bike tours... The spa is fantastic and good value for money (40-50£/massage). Special mention to Bensley, one of the activity coordinators. We booked a bike tour to Flacq market on Wednesday, and only we turned up so we had a 3 hour private tour of Flacq. He showed us all the best spots - a Hindu temple nearby, Super U (everyone loves a trip to a supermarket in a new country!), Flacq open market. He also bought us the best Dholl Puri from a street vendor which tasted amazing! Sunrise are lucky to have him. I would say to avoid booking anything directly through the hotel e.g. taxis, excursions, car hire, money exchange. We did all this directly with companies and it saved us a lot of money. Equally they do offer all this at the hotel just be mindful it is marked up a lot. They do have a secure car park at the hotel where you can park your car. We spent a lot of time relaxing but did venture out to see other parts of Mauritius - Seven Waterfall hike, Le Morne hike, rum distillery. We had a fantastic stay at Sunrise Attitude. It was a perfect spot for a winter (in the UK) get away to celebrate our honeymoon. Don't think twice about booking, great value for money and definitely feels like a 5* hotel! Thank you! Read less

Staff very welcoming, very nice food and Emmanuel at the reception very cool person and amazing attitude. Very welcoming room and attractive swimming. Quiet hotel surrounded by local plantation with outstanding view. Surprise birthday cake was the cherry on top to summarize how cool is Sunrise Attitude!

We booked the Sunrise attitude for the last leg of our 5 years anniversary trip to Mauritius. It was the first time that we went for an all inclusive resort We have not been disappointed, the hotel is very nice, the facilities are great, lots of options and activities offered by the structure. One of the strength of this property is their incredible staff. From our arrival to our departure, everyone has been so kind, helpful, polite, professional and friendly. From reception, to the restaurant, the bars and the activities crew, everyone showed a real dedication to their job and made sure that our stay was enjoyable. The food was quite good, some things should be labeled a bit better and I would say that the coffee is definitely not their strong suit at breakfast. The machines deliver a poor quality coffee but the staff was so nice to offer, when they could, coffee from the bar. I can't remember all the names but the staff definitely elevated our experience, Emmanuel, thanks for your time at the end of our stay. We felt that our option mattered and that you strive to improve your services. We would love to come again in the future ! Read less
