The hotel

When you arrive at the front of the Soco House, you'll feel like you've been transported to South Beach, where vintage Art Deco architecture meets contemporary sophistication. The white and blue theme gives it a breezy, beach vibe and will have you chilling out on the sand in no time. Positioned in the island's leading tourist location, you've got shops, bars, restaurants and excursions right on the doorstep, but you'll have to drag yourself away from this stylish hotel first. The pool bar is the perfect place to chill with a cocktail, or indulge the senses at the spa with a massage - the choice is yours. The food is nothing short of exceptional, with an intimate vibe in the restaurant that is reflected all over the hotel - this really is the place to be seen this year!

The staff here are so friendly and the service (although sometimes slow in the restaurant) never bothered us. We were on holiday so never ones to rush. Even though we never complained about the wait, we were often apologised to. The food is worth waiting for and we enjoyed dining a la carte as opposed to buffet. Enjoyed everything we ate so much. Especially the curries. The rooms and main areas are always clean and tidy. It’s in a great location, 2 minutes walk from the nearest bar, 5 minutes walk from Spinnakers and lots of other bars and restaurants as well as the town centre with shops in under 10 minutes walk. The walk is safe and locals will say morning to you as you pass them. We had the loveliest time and it was totally down to the staff, the food and the location. Read less

I was really looking forward to coming to the hotel, but from arrival to departure it was a joke. Arrived after 8pm, room was not complete even though it should have been ready from 3pm. No problem, we got what we needed to complete the room. First evening at dinner, was not expecting an Al la carte. This works if you have sufficient staff to accommodate the service, we booked an all inclusive package, but it might as well been room only as they served you the same food (we only ate here for 2-3 days out of 7), the service was beyond slow when I did eat in the restaurant, which resulted in me walking out twice. The manager was really nice and apologised about the situation and offered us a spa package (which we did not get), but the problems just continued. One of their waitresses had a check to say she thought I was naked IN THE RESTAURANT, because I was wearing a top that was the same colour as my skin! WTF sits in a restaurant naked! There is no entertainment here, the hotel is mainly filled with older people (over 65’s), so by 11pm it dinner, bath bed for them! The housekeeping service is ok, how they expect staff to drag towels, sheets and products around with no trolley is beyond me. But the house keeping staff are worth their weight in gold, super friendly, Charmaine was so sweet, warm intro, always made sure we had what we needed, I can’t thank her enough. There were other issues, but I’d be here all day! British Airways had this hotel down as a 4 star, but is more of a 3. They have the potential to be great, but they have got some tweaking to do. I know I won’t stay here on my next visit, but I’ll visit to see if has improved since. You can not charge 4/5 star money and give a 2/3 star service. Read less
