The highlight was eating at each of the resort’s restaurants - Mi Carisa, Mura House, and Cueva Siete did not disappoint; very good food and excellent service. Easy beach access from the pools was a plus. There were problems, however. The air conditioner in our room wasn’t working upon arrival, and there were very loud guests in the room next to one of ours on one of the nights. In all fairness, these problems were addressed fairly quickly. Had things ended hete, this could have been a 4 to 5 star review. What disappointed us was the following: one of our group spilled a glass ofwine in their room, caught the glass before it broke, and some wine splashed on the edge of the bedsheet (nowhere else on the bed). It was about a 4 inch stain. Wine spilled on the floor was cleaned up right away. Único sent a message saying that they were charging us 150$ U.S. for the bedsheet. After protesting the amount of the charge, we were told they would not let us leave until the charge was paid. Definitely not the way things should have been handled. Read less

Amazing facilities all around. Starting with the rooms, the bed was heaven and the room was decorated in a gorgeous manner with the smallest attention to detail cared for. The balconies either have a swim up pool, or a balcony soaking tub - which was an experience I didn't know I needed. The staff takes care to visit your room twice during the day, once earlier in the day to clean up, and second later in the day to 'prep' the room for bed. This includes leaving two delicious little chocolates on a tray by the pillows and moving the slippers next to the bed. Such a sweet little touch. The grounds were gorgeous and well maintained. The pools were all clean and had plenty of space to relax. The servers who brought drinks and food around the property were attentive and service was quick. The restaurants were amazing and had some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted. Some of the portions run on the smaller side, I assume as they are taking account for people ordering multiple things. My favorites were the 20.87 breakfast buffet, which included everything you could imagine, and Cueva, their Mexican food concept. Pro tip: bring about $30 a day in ones and fives to tip the staff while you are there. The resort, food and alcohol are all-inclusive - but it's always nice to let the staff know that they are appreciated. We've also found that they give you quicker drinks this way :) Read less

I recently stayed at UNICO 20°87° Riviera Maya Resort and, unfortunately, my experience was marred by a bout of gastroenteritis on my last day. After four days at the resort without any other exposure, it was clear the illness was contracted there. Despite the resort's assurances of high hygiene standards, my symptoms and the timing strongly suggest otherwise. I believe the illness stemmed from a drink in what appeared to be a poorly washed cup. Despite only having a few sips before returning it, I fell severely ill a day later. The resort's doctor diagnosed gastroenteritis, but the management disassociated from this diagnosis and the doctor himself when it implicated their facilities. Their response was dismissive, focusing on general hygiene protocols and suggesting other factors like dehydration or changing diet (only diet change was eating and drinking there for 4 days prior). They refused to provide any remedy for my medical expenses or any other option to remedy the situation. They kept citing that the doctor is an external service, not part of their resort, despite being integral to their guest care. I'm disappointed with how my concern was handled and their refusal to acknowledge or remedy the situation. This experience has left a negative impression, and I hope future guests do not face similar issues. Service- 2/5 - staff was good, the concierge you get assigned is nothing but someone texting you the days events. Which can basically be something posted on the hotel site. Location 1/5- be prepared to pay 💰 if you come from CUN airport. They claim to sweep the beach for sea weed but there is so much still on the beach and the beach isn’t cleaned up frequently. There are cups and debris Rooms 3/5- typical of a resort. Ours had key issues and it took about a hour after check in to be able to leave our room bc we didn’t have a working lock. Read less

Amazing service, Laura was a great host. Raul in MiCarisa gives exceptional service. No matter where we were on property the service was top notch! All of the staff is friendly and accomodating. The beach this year was the best we have ever experienced at Unico. Property is well maintained and clean - especially considering they were less than a week out from a hurricane hitting the resort. Take advantage of the craft and learning opportunities! We took a mixology class, went snorkeling, did water yoga, macramed, painted, beaded and made chocolate while learning the history of how the Maya used it- the only one we paid for was the chocolate class ( a small fee) and we had a souvenir to bring home to the kids. There are so many opportunities to keep busy that we did not feel the need to leave the resort. The food was very good. If you can travel during tehir superbia event, I woudl higjly recommend it!! We have been going to UNICO since it opened, specifically for Superbia. We were there the week of July 14th and as usual, it never disappoints. We were a small bit concerned that there would be some issues due to recovery from the hurricane, but there were none. Of course there were still some cosmetic issues with the buildings and landscaping, but the staff was working to get these fixed and by the end of the week, things were getting back to normal. The food and service were not affected. This was the best Superbia menu we have had in 7 years. Chef Joel Ornelas really put together a fantastic menu. We did the artist experience with Efraín Lizarraga, what an amazing person and talent. And the best part of the stay was our local host, Laura Flores. She was, by far, the best we have been assigned in all of our trips there. She was so energetic and always in a great mood. She was super responsive to any thing we needed and always sent a morning message with a review of the days activities. By the end of the week, we considered her a great friend and hated to say goodbye. We will definitely request her on our next trip down there. Now, for the only negative, the APP, it is horrendous and when it does launch, it is useless. Luckily for us, with being veterans of the resort, it did not matter and really did not need it, but for new travelers, it was very frustrating. It did seem to get more stable as the week went on, so hopefully it gets better (but I miss the old app). All in all, this is still our favorite place in the world and are counting the days until our next visit. Read less
