Blue Waters Resort & Spa

Antigua, Caribbean

Virgin rating

The hotel

This is a truly superb recently refreshed hotel with elegant surroundings, outstanding service and an enviable location on two white sand beaches lapped by gentle aqua waves, epitomising the Caribbean fantasy. The 17 tropical acres of gardens are beautifully tended and each of the buildings is romantically draped with brightly coloured bougainvillea — just adding to the delightful ambience. There's plenty to do during the day and you'll no doubt be tempted on to the beach by one of a generous array of water sports. Table tennis is popular and there's an 18-hole golf course 5 minutes away. Wind down in the evening (if you haven't done so already!) with a delicious coconut crush — liberally splashed with local rum — while you watch pelicans dive and swoop for their meals. Your dinner can be taken at one of the hotel's gourmet restaurants, complimented with an excellent Claret from the wine list. An amazing holiday experience.

The staff have to be the friendliest in the Caribbean and a very special mention to Pearle who runs the Pelican bar, you are the best! Thanks to the front desk for trying to book my cricket tickets. A massive mention to Ronald , voted the best Chef in Antigua , for a very good reason, great to meet you at the cricket. Finally, an even bigger thanks to Carrez, head barman at the Cove, thanks for taking me to see WI vs SA, shame about the result , but a fantastic evening and one I wont forget, great company. Breakfast, lunch and Dinner are first class. A special thanks to all the serving staff at the Cove who are absolutely brilliant. Beers, wines and spirits all excellent under the all inclusive package, you won't need to buy anything top shelf. The hotel gardens are beautiful and better than 18 months ago, when we last visited. This is a very special hotel and we are definitely coming back. Thank you for looking after the 3 of us. Read less

Our 11 year old says breakfast was amazing and she especially enjoyed the food at the Reef. Our 17 year old recommends Rachel for employee of the month. Her attention to his allergies made him feel safe, and her personality was warm, friendly, and fun. We loved the game room and the free kayaking and paddle boards. We took advantage of the golf cart rides when it was late, raining, or too hot, and found the drivers to all be delightful including DeAndre, Christopher, Emmanuel, and Jefferson. Wait staff and food managers, including Derah and Carla, were attentive and extra friendly. Some of our favorite servers included Brian and Sheddy. Matthew in the lobby helped us several times and was charming. Wendy in the boutique was a sweetheart and greeted us several times with enthusiasm. Lauren the security guard was the first face we saw upon arrival and gave us an excellent “welcome to paradise” greeting. The cooling towels were amazing upon arrival. Ronald (the chef) was awesome and spoke to us on numerous occasions. SOME SUGGESTIONS: Need better lighting on some of the walkways. Kitchen/Dining room in Villa need more/better lighting. Other rooms are perfect. Recommend family friendly daily activities or entertainment such as movie night or trivia contests. Villa kitchen could be a little better stocked in terms of cooking supplies. It had no spatula or items like salt and pepper. Read less

We had a private pool, king sized beds, a great covered porch with easy access to all the resort amenities including pickleball court, yoga platform, gym, restaurants as well as pools and beaches. Service was impeccable, with a special call out to the best concierge ever- Nicole. We chartered a small power boat for a coastal cruise- awesome time with Danny and Rocky. Few resorts earn our 5 starting and intention to return. Highly recommend! Read less
