We had a blessed 50th Birthday celebration at the Emerald Maldives. From the time we landed in Male to the time we boarded our plane to return home, the staff was amazing. The staff effortlessly provide five star service. Our butler Wisham was one of the best. Not only did he provide supreme service to us, we were able to witness him provide his quality service to other guests he came in contact with. This was our first visit to the Maldives. We chose the Emerald mainly because of the excellent reviews. The service is the best that we have experienced in any five-star hotel/resort. Especially from our ‘butler’, Wisham, who went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. We loved the island resort, it was beautiful - lush with sandy beaches and the sea was so clear. The whole resort is kept so clean. We would like to thank Naeem who kept our villa spotless. We stayed in both a water villa with pool and a family beach villa. We can recommend both, depending on what your preferences are. Both villas have a huge bathroom (there are two bathrooms in the family villa) and lots of storage space. There is a well-stocked mini bar with drinks and snacks, all included in the plan. There are four food outlets where you can go for dinner but be sure to book ahead if you particularly want to visit anywhere. Wisham, our butler, was incredible! He arranged all our dinner bookings and sorted out special vegan requests for one of our party. In fact, Wisham was our go to for almost everything-you can communicate with him on WhatsApp-he responds so quickly to requests for information, bookings, transport by golf carts and basically anything is not too much trouble. We had a problem with the air conditioning in our villa and contacted Wisham - by the time we returned from dinner, it was fixed! We had not snorkelled before and were a bit anxious about trying it. Wisham arranged for us to have a complimentary snorkelling intro session with Nappe, who explained everything so well. We decided to join the Coral Gardens snorkelling excursion and Wisham arranged for Nappe to be our guide because two of us were slightly anxious about going as we were not strong swimmers and new to snorkelling. Nappe was very patient with us and we’re so glad we went as we got to swim amongst the tropical fish and saw the coral reef. If you go to the Emerald, do try a snorkelling excursion – they are expensive but well worth it. Some of our party also went on the Manta Rays excursion, which they thoroughly enjoyed. We also got to see dolphins on the Dolphin Cruise, which was included in our package. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to try paddle boarding or kayaking (both complimentary) as the sea was not calm enough when we wanted to do these activities. We tried to snorkel on the house reef but visibility was not good on that day as the sea was not calm enough. However, we did spot fish and even a ray by the water villas and baby sharks by the jetty. At the Emerald, the all-inclusive plans offered so much – all meals and drinks and only a few high value items, like lobster, had an extra charge. Unlike some resorts, you could choose more dishes if you wanted and water was included. I have to say that service at the eateries was exceptional. A big shout out to Amjadh, one of the restaurant servers, who made us laugh with his wit and made us feel so special. Also worthy of a mention are Nitish, Sam, Thas, Naresh, Nitin, Shaikhan and Giri who attended to us so well. There are bikes at your villa that you can use. They are quite heavy and cumbersome so we preferred to take a golf cart or walk. The golf carts would generally arrive quite promptly, although at peak times, you may have to wait a little longer. We would like to give a shout out to Viam, one of the drivers, who was so friendly and informative. We visited the spa facilities, which are quite small with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. It would have been nice if there was a spa pool. We had a tension massage – it was one of the best massages we have experienced and certainly loosened up all those knots and was so relaxing. We were worried about going in Monsoon season in late June/early July, however we were lucky as as we got a lot of sunshine and very little rain. All in all, we had a wonderful time at the Emerald and our only regret was that we didn’t book a longer stay. Read less

The resort was beautiful! I had a really enjoyable holiday with my friend’s family. Wisham was incredibly helpful with booking and adjusting reservations for dinner and activities during our stay as well as with advising us with any enquiries we had. This made the holiday very smooth sailing and relaxing, thank you. There was an exceptional range of good quality activities to pass the time and beautiful beaches which were very easily accessible. The state of the water villa was incredible and clean. The staff were not only friendly but also did a spectacular job. The food and drinks were amazing, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the range of cuisine available and the diligence or the staff/restaurants to label and advise regarding allergens. The complimentary dolphin tour, the diving tour, spa treatments and the manta ray snorkelling excursion were unforgettable experiences! Couldn’t recommend the place more! Read less
