Image of the Tripadvisor rating Terrible experience trying to purchase a day pass

For over a month, I have been trying to contact the Al Qasr hotel in order to purchase a beach & pool day pass, as advertised on their website. This is particularly important to me, as I grew up living on the same spot in the 1980s, back when it was “Chicago Beach Village”. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to stay in the hotel itself, and so the day pass at 350 AED is my only way of revisiting my childhood home, and seeing how things have changed since I last saw it in 1990. As there is no functionality to purchase a day pass on the website, I emailed the hotel. Initially I was ignored completely, but eventually my email was forwarded to Restaurants@jumeirah.com who seem to have responsibility for arranging day passes. Fourteen emails back and forth later, and I still haven’t secured the day pass. It seems every time I write to them, they ignore any of the history in the email chain and ask me to reconfirm which hotel and what date I want to book for. Most recently, upon answering their queries, they set up a day pass for me with the wrong date and wrong hotel on it. They fixed one component (the date), but still haven’t fixed the hotel and are now not answering my follow up emails at all. My whole reason for stopping over in Dubai was to see my old beach and the pier I used to go fishing off, and now I feel like my whole trip might be wasted because a five-star hotel can’t work out how to process a beach pass purchase. I realise this probably seems like a very small thing to get upset about, but there’s a lot of sentimental value for me, and I would have hoped that the hotel would be a little more sympathetic to a former resident of their hotel’s exact location - or at least efficient enough to be able to sell the pass they advertise. It's not the first time I've stayed in Al Qasr. And as always my experience was great. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Food is delicious, the pool is spacious, many restaurants around the hotel and just a very nice atmosphere for families but also couples and individuals. I would like to let the managers know about certain people who made the experience particularly pleasant. Mr Sayeed and Ahmed from concierge (very friendly and welcoming), Ramita from the housekeeping (always very kind and considerate), Ali Anifour, Shakil, Lucky and Ronit from the main pool (these guys are very welcoming and have a great sense of humor), Sanjay the pasta man (damn, his pasta is great), Rahman the waiter (he should give classes on attention to detail), Abrar from Pierchic (always there for the guests) and Lorenzo the trainee (very considerate, diplomatic and knows how to make up a good mood). And particular thanks to the entire parking team especially Herbert, Amrish and Manjit. Huge thanks to all of you guys for making this experience bright and nice. So it's all great but...This guy Arzi from reception with glasses and curly hair was not as pleasant. I don't normally complain but I will this time. On the last day of our visit he turned off the ACs in ALL of our rooms without appropriately ensuring that we left the hotel. He saw our suitcases leaving the hotel and assuming that we left too just turned the ACs off (it was 37C outside). We went to talk to the guy but he didn't even apologise for this massive inconvenience and at the end just turned the arrows back at us and said it was our fault not to let him know we were still at the hotel tho he DID talk to my mom and she told him we were still in. Please, explain to him that you don't argue with guests and especially don't point arrows at guests. And generally he's just quite an arrogant individual. Other than that, our stay was superb. Iv stayed in many hotels in Dubai over the years and this was my first time at Al Qsar ..My oh my , what a beautiful hotel and so far , has to be my favourite . As soon as you enter the lobby , you are filled with the most beautiful arrangements of fresh flowers and the smell is just divine, it literally took my breath away . I never normally name individuals and when I see reviews naming 20 or more staff , I become somewhat sceptical. For one , I never can remember everyone’s name and secondly , I believe everyone contributes to a whole team and it’s a team effort that makes the difference. However , in this instance , a check in experience sets the scene for what is normally to come , for your visit to that particular hotel . In my case I was checked in by the most delightful person named Yuda. I was greeted with a complimentary drink and advised about the hotel and my room . Check in was effortless and I was escorted to my room by a trainee called Fernanda .. the most welcoming experiences iv ever had , anywhere in the world and she was just amazing , as was Yuda . All the staff are dressed in the most exquisite attire , navy blues and oyster silks , I think . The uniform was outstandingly beautiful and fitting for a grand , palatial hotel . My room was as beautiful as my first impression of the lobby and it did not disappoint in any way . A wonderful view of the Burg Al Arab , the biggest bed iv ever seen with immaculate bed linen and every amenity you could wish for . The bathroom was to die for and I could not wait to indulge in the fabulous , huge bath . I was literally in awe . I could not take in the luxury , the decadence of what was before me . I felt almost like a child in a candy store , wondering what to do next . I took a video and sent it to my daughter with the caption “ I’m in heaven “ .. The rest of my stay was just phenomenal. A culinary adventure from the delicious restaurants on hand . The Hide , Pai Tha , just to name a few . The French river beach , where I had the most divine breakfasts , over looking the ocean and the burg al Arab , most mornings, it was a dream . Who on earth needs the Maldives , as this was on par , it truely was . The pools are immaculate, the service attentive and first class from all the waiters . Cool bags with bottled water , fruit and ice lollies throughout the day , was just perfect . The food at pool side I particularly enjoyed , as were the cocktails , just faultless in every way . They provide buggies to get around and the Abra boats are a must experience, as you get to see a lot of the hotels , within the madinat , that you wouldn’t normally see . The beach is the best iv seen and usually iv stayed on JBR , but this is now my favourite. The only down side is the price - it’s incredibly expensive to stay here , but boy , is it worth it . I can conclude that it is , in every way you san imagine . I believe any hotel is only as good as the management. I can honestly say the management for this wonderful hotel is second to none . It has to be to have the experience I had … This can be seen in all the staff that you come into contact with daily . They are friendly, courteous, professional and go over and above to make your stay as delightful as can be . They must have received impeccable training . I am returning to this wonderful hotel next year and literally cannot wait . Well done and congratulations to all , who are part of my favourite hotel in Dubai . What an amazing experience you provide for your guests . Read less

This was our second stay in 2 years at Al Qasr. The elegance of the five stars, the friendliness of the staff and their impeccable professionalism made us feel at home. A special mention to Francia from the kids club who made our 4y old boy’s stay even more memorable. Looking forward to our next stay.
