We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary and the hotel lived up to it's reputation. The location is stunning and our room was large, comfortable with doors opening out to the garden. The actual gardens surrounding the beach were immaculate. It was also very quiet. The only criticism was that there was some confusion of what is included in the all inclusive package. The booklet that is given out with the keycards states that with this package, you are entitled to one three course a la carte meal in The Banyan Tree, La Maree, or Lakaz Kreol restaurants. This choice apparently had been removed even though it stated it in the booklet. We queried this and were told they have so many old books to use up first. If it had been pointed out at check-in it would have been helpful, or perhaps a line should have been drawn through this option. Unfortunately as this is the case in many exotic locations, mosquitos were a bit of a problem for us, normally the air-con helps with that but we still got bitten. We asked for our room to be sprayed and were informed by reception that a plug in mosquito repellent was in fact in one of the drawers. That should have been pointed out as soon as we checked into the room. Milk and teabags were not always replenished automatically. Other than that our stay was fabulous. As it was our silver wedding, we had a beautiful table and dinner arranged by the hotel at La Maree. We also ate in the other restaurants, apart from Chateau mon Desir. Anno 1743 is really worth a visit and the distillery is a must see. We often ask ourselves would we return, and the answer is yes! We also loved the resident cats, who were no problem and made us feel at home. We were asked to point out members of staff who had excelled. It is just too difficult, as they were all lovely and all deserved awards in our opinion. We felt valued guests by all. Read less

Returned in June for our 9th visit to this wonderful hotel. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Upgraded to a Deluxe Plus room with a lovely view to the beach through the trees. Throughout our stay the staff were delightful, management always around and everyone from cleaners to supervisors polite and cheerful. Breakfast on the beach was lovely, looked after by Ishwaree, Rakesh, Sarita and others, always with a smile. La Maree was a favourite for lunch and also in the evening, again looked after by Rakesh, Fabrice and others with lovely meals. Thank you Chef Soubhash. We used the Banyan as well which was lovely. Also Jay and his staff on the beach were great as usual. Our on disappointment was that apparently the menu cards had been recently changed and at The Banyan and La Maree the All Inclusive choices had been cut back. We did bring this up with the management. This apart our stay was again excellent and we hope to be back in a couple of years. Read less

Just returned from a perfect 10 day trip at Maritim Resort in Balaclava. The hotels staff really make this place the perfect resort in paradise. From the moment you arrive the Mauritians make you feel so welcome. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious and most have a sea view, we stayed on the first floor in Room 444 and it was perfect to wake up to palm trees and a sea view! The restaurants are amazing - Belle Vue - is a perfect buffet with a number of cooking stations and a good selection for everyone, the stand out being the Indian dishes for both lunch and dinner (even breakfast!) La Maree Beach Restaurant - make sure if you are on AI you have breakfast, lunch or dinner here on at least one occasion for each meal, the staff and food are standout and the view of the ocean while you eat - truly special experience you will remember! BBQ Restaurant - was kitted out for the England Euros match and it was nice to eat with the sand in your feet. The meats were okay but felt that more adventurousness marinades could have been offered to order. Not worth the supplement in my opinion but still a nice experience. La Maree Beach Bar - beat staff in the world and the Bar men who nick named me Meh Hoon A was especially friendly! Thank you Quarterdeck - the busy main bar whose staff work very hard day and night. Lots of drinks and cocktail included in AI and also willing to make custom drinks - lovely place. The Pools - OMG the sea view day and night are to die for and the sunsets are truly special from here and especially the Le Maree Beach are something to remember - paradise! A special thank you to Manoj the rooms manager and Vima for arranging the rooms and making our trip extra special. A luxury, idyllic hotel in a great location close to Grand Baie nightlife (£20 each way taxi including waiting time 3 hours), classic features, modern touches, great food and spectacular views! From the welcome to the departure the staff at Maritim made this trip truly special! Thank you! Read less

It’s really hard to write this review as I’ve got serious ‘holiday blues’ This was our 3rd time at the Maritim and it’s was just as amazing as the previous 2! We stayed as a family of 5, in 3 rooms on all inclusive basis. All the staff and I mean ALL are so friendly, helpful, warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped out of the transfer where we were remembered from our previous visits and greeted like family. We had such a smooth check in with Neel who kindly informed us that our room had been upgraded whilst explaining the recent changes and improvements on the resort since our last visit. All the reception, management (Manoi), bar, restaurant, beach, towel/activities kiosk and maid/turndown staff couldn’t have done more to make our stay a perfect one. I want to say a special thank you to Mithun who went out of his way to give us 5 star treatment and personally make sure our restaurant reservations were memorable ones whilst wowing us with his excellent origami skills! Mr Wonderful was wonderful at the towel kiosk always greeting us with a smile whilst cracking jokes! Sorry not to mention everyone by name as there’s too many but praise goes out to each and every staff member. Our rooms had the perfect sea views, the beds super comfy, the mini bar stocked daily, and cleaned perfectly. Food & Drink - “Belle Vue” buffet was excellent for breakfast, lunch and dinner with an array of choices which changed theme daily. Up there as one of the best buffet restaurants we’ve been to. “Le Banyan” Asian Fusion Restaurant was really lovely but there was only 1 starter, 1 main and 1 dessert that was part of the all inclusive so be prepared to pay a small supplement on most of the menu. “La Marée Beach Restaurant” is one of our favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Again there are certain things on the menu at lunch and dinner which are not part of AI and a small supplement is charged. You can also order food at lunchtime to your sunbeds which was perfect. “Les Filaos Beach BBQ” is not part of AI but we had a very enjoyable feet in the sand BBQ whilst watching England play in the Euros. We were lucky enough to be gifted this restaurant from the resort which was very much appreciated. “Lakas Kreol Experience” is an intimate experience for up to 10 people situated in a beautiful courtyard setting serving a feast of about 5/6 courses of local delicacies. We have previously enjoyed this restaurant and is not part of the AI but again we were lucky to also be gifted this experience on this visit, would definitely recommend booking. “Anno 1743”, “The Distillery” and “the Nest” are all new additions to the resort and we thoroughly enjoyed being shown around the amazing restaurant and bars and enjoying cocktails on The Nest roof top bar. This is not part of the AI and unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to sample the restaurant as we run out of time as it’s only open Fridays and Saturdays but will definitely be trying on our next visit. “La Maree Beach Bar” perfect place for lunch time and evening cocktails. You can also make use of the waiter service to order food and drinks to your sunbeds which is the perfect touch. The staff are amazing and make the perfect cocktails! “Quarter Deck” perfect to sit and watch the sunset whilst enjoying a cocktail and afternoon snacks which usually consisted of pancakes, waffles, cake, spring rolls and onion rings. Also our favourite place for after dinner drinks whilst playing cards. There is evening entertainment here but it is very low key. The staff are amazing and very attentive. At the weekend this bar can get very busy as locals vacate here making service slower but the staff work hard to attend to all the guests. The grounds are amazing and a wander around the old ruins, waterfall, giant tortoises, goats, horses and dogs is a must! Some reviews mention about the stray dogs and cats but I can honestly say they are not a problem. The resort have a dog and cat cafe and if they are able to catch the dogs they then get them checked by the vet, housed in the many kennels and operate an adoption service. In the mornings you are able to go and walk the dogs which was a very enjoyable experience. Horse riding along the beach is also a must and a holiday memory to add to the bank. Thank you to the Maritim team and all your amazing staff who you should be very proud of for our memorable stay and for your amazing hospitality once again. The Maritim is our happy place and we will definitely be returning for years to come! Management, only one point to mention and take into consideration is the all inclusive package as we have noticed it is reduced compared to previous years. The cocktails and alcoholic drink choices are very limited and popular holiday cocktails/drinks are either chargeable or no longer on the menu (e.g no frozen daiquiri on menu and our favourite Aperol Spritz was chargeable which was disappointing) very limited choice for AI at Le Banyan and La Maree. More AI choices on drinks and restaurants needed please See you soon Maritim Resort & Spa, we can’t wait to return! Read less

Fantastic welcome from the hotel. We were here to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with our grown up daughters. We were upgraded into spacious, well appointed garden access rooms which allowed easy beach access. Great variety of fresh foods to suit all tastes in the buffet restaurant. The Banyan and Anno restaurants were also great (but not included in all inclusive). Make sure you visit La Maree for the a La carte menu at lunchtime (inc in all incl). It’s on the beach which provides unbeatable views. Ishwaree at La Maree took care of us every lunch time going the extra mile to make us and our experience extra special. And Neeraj, the F&B manager went out his way to also make us feel special - thank you. The hotel gardens are well manicured with staff constantly looking after them. The water sports facilities are great as is the boathouse team. The hotel is situated in a bay so great place for snorkelling, paddleboarding g, kayaking & sailing The hotel, bay and gardens are spectacular & the hotel web photos don’t do it justice. Everything is high end and well thought through. Sunset are amazing here. Finally all staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. From the man on the front door, to bar staff who quickly knew our order, to restaurant waiters to cleaning staff, everyone went out their way to say hello and make the holiday feel special. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Read less
