OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi

Great stay and we were sad to leave. Hotel was beautiful, staff friendly and helpful. Island was well kempt. It was a pleasure to walk on the sand roads to the restaurant and bar. The cocktails were freshly made and freshing. Underwater restaurant is well worth the money, we ate in the evening and saw many fish including a black tip reef shark. If you enjoy surf and turf the copper pot food truck is well worth a visit. Dolphin cruise was superb the lady in charge was friendly, we must have seen over 50 dolphins many leaping out of the water. The snorkel trip to see turtles was enjoyable , the gentleman who took the trip was informative , it is tiring with a lot of swimming and I would recommend a go pro camera to capture all the marine life. Wonderful island vacation. We stayed for 10 nights. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The villas are spacious and are well maintained. Thanks Mohamed. There are multiple beach options to explore around the island. There are plenty of fish to view in all the waters. Rent the snorkel gear daily. The variety of watersport activities is great and 15 mins is plenty time to enjoy. Sean, Ammon, Adam and the entire team is awesome and so much fun leading the activities. I suggest to factor in at least $500 additional per person for excursions if you are staying longer than 4 or 5 days. The dining buffet had many options daily, yet after 7 days it became redundant (Asian, Indian, Maldivian and international themed choices). The staff (Shy, Imanshi and the entire team are wonderful). Lobster feat is a must do, worth the cost. The Blu underwater restaurant was a nice experience (thanks Shajani for your excellent service) but should not be as expensive as it is. You are surrounded by and view a well maintained aquarium with lots of fish varieties and a shark Do not expect to see the natural ocean the restaurant sits in as we were expecting. The spa is a must do, Sari, Janet and the entire team is great. The 360X bar staff (Amit, Rizal and the whole team) are excellent. The experience needs elevating. The DJ was ok and did not effectively select music to maintain the vibe of the room. The music is excessively loud after dark until after midnight. The bar stools need replacing to a material that doesn't mold easily. The bar is spacious and open air so you are forced to listen to the dance music. There are no other quiet places to sit and chill with friends after the restaurant closes. The game room, which is nice, is on the same level as the DJ booth. Taken together, we will definitely return for 4 or 5 days. The managers' cocktail reception was a nice touch to have a chance to meet them. Read less

We had experienced 8 days - 7 nights in Oblu Xperience Ailafushi. We will share information from our observations and experiences to be able to help for the people that thinks to go to the resort. On our arrival on 3rd July 2024 we have been welcomed from the airport very warmly and almost we didnt wait and transfered to the speedboat to the resort despite the very bad and rainy wheather. When we reached to the resort we were welcomed again by the staff, we were feeling very tired from the 8 hour flight and bad whether speadboat drive despite they offer us to take us to the main restaurant for lunch we said we wanted to rest and went to our room to rest. We have to say they also offered us to send some food to the room which was very much appreciated. We had a lovely stay and experince through the whole 8 days only had one bad experince due to the lack of service from the reception. Other than that the resort and staff was giving the promised service. Our bad experinece was for the last day arragments. We knew that late check out could be subjected to a fee which is understandable but we wanted to ask if we can use the facilities until our departure from the island which was supposed to be on 19.00. The pattern is on your departure day all inclusive plan that they call Fushi Plan ends on 11.00. Reading comments before and being in the toursim industry I know that they can let you use the facilities until your departure especially if you are staying long term like us so we decided we will ask for that. Emptying room on 12.00 which was written on the Plan but using the facilities until our departure, basically this means having a extra lunch and drinks. When we ask this from the reception the service we got was unpleasant and dissapointing that upset us to be honest. The approch was not explanatary. We decided to see the manager next day to convey our comments and we have meet with as we thought guest realations staff Arian (apologies if we are making a mistake about her name). She was very helpfull and understanding and agreeing with us. We told her our experinece and also reminded her that when you are directly buying from the site infomations are being advertised as `complimentary` but in reality they dont exsist like what we expected extending the Fushi plan until departure. As we said she was very helpfull and offered us a late check out which we kindly refused since our aim was not to stay more on the room but to use the facilities until our departure. It is very strange that in an all inclusive hotel and in an island that you pay good amount of money one extra lunch and couple of drinks are calculated. Our experince would be fanatastic if we hadnt endured this unpleasant situation. At the same day we also had a call from Mr. Abu - reception manager and asked to meet with us. He was also very understanding and helpfull and offered us a late check out, again we told him this is not our aim and we just asked for extending the Fushi Plan. He still made the room available for us which we didnt use but we use the facilities as this was our request. We had already decided to leave around 4.30 so we also visit Male before our flight. So in conclusion this kind of small request should be handeled more professionally by the reception staff not to spoil the precious time of the guests. This is our only negative point to the resort. Other than that to make it more helpfull we are doing a list of important facts for the people that think to visit Oblu Xperince Ailafushi. 1. The resort is offering 3 days meals , unlimited drinks in the Fushi Plan that is very good if you dont want to spend extra in the resort for food and beverages. They offer some international cusine, indian and asian and some maldivian cusine. We like indian and asian food so it was very good for us but if you are particularly liking different cusines, especially Turkish the food is not very suitable. Consider this before you book. 2. Apart from food as snack you can have popcorn that is on the bar area and if you ask from the bartender they also give you some nuts. But honestly with 3 time meal plan you do not need any snack. 3. Housekeeping is very kind an helpfull. We are greatfull for our housekepper(Summhi-hope we wrote correct). He was fantastic through all our stay. 4. We stayed on water villa and recommend staying on water villa as they are more private and have the best view. Ask to have a villa with lagoon view cause they also have a side that sees the Male which we wouldnt like to have as a sight. With lagoon view you also have sunset view as a bonus. The sights and views are beyond explanation, it was the most appealing part of our stay. 5. The resort doesnt have a house reef and they mention in their infromation from the begining. But still we had the opppetunity to observe baby sharks. 6. You can pay extra and go to excurisons which we did. We went to snoreklling. They took us a reef that was in a close by resort , 15 min distance and we had a good experince, staff was great and helpfull, it was a true experince. We recommend if you want to explore more of the underwater beuties. 7. My wife also benefitted from daily speacial from the spa and had 2 treatments which she said was satisfactory. Only thing you need to keep in your mind is that both for number 6 excurisons and other extras like spa etc. the price is written without the service fee and tax fee. They put the price and then ++ next to it that refers to these extra fees that you will end up paying so consider this when buying exurcisons or extra service. 8. Water villa was amazing as we mentioned. The bathroom is well desinged but since it is an open are no ac but there is a fan. But despite the comments we read before going the room is very good with ac and not hot. There is also a fan in the room as well but you will not need to use it. 9. Before we go we also read about lack of buggies but this was not a case. There was always buggies when we need transport. Overall our experince was satisfactory despite our one unpleasant encounter we expalined above. We can definetly visit again this resort or any other oblu resorts. People whom will think to visit should also not forget that the resort is a 4 star resort and expect that kind of service which honestly we think the service was almost 5 star experince.
