The hotel

Take a dip in the zero-entry pool, complete with stunning views over the beach and private cabanas you can rent for the day. Where is it

On the beachfront, a short stroll to shopping, dining, and nightlife of Clearwater Promenade, and half a mile from Pier 60. Distance from Tampa International Airport: 21.5 miles.

230 rooms and suites. All with Gulf of Mexico views, private balcony, floor-to-ceiling windows, air-conditioning, flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, coffee maker, safe and hairdryer. 

Spacious Gulf Front Rooms (previously named Premium Gulf Front) are 360 sq ft with large balconies that boast views of the Gulf, with either 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds, plus sofa-bed, sleeping maximum 4 people.

One Bedroom Gulf Front King Suites offer views of the beachfront and the Gulf of Mexico, and feature a separate living room with queen-size sofa bed, dining table for four, kitchenette, bathroom with separate shower and tub, and master bedroom with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 people.

Please note: There is currently a new hotel being built across the street from Opal Sands. The project is anticipated to be finished towards the end of 2024, and work will take place between the hours of 7.00am-4.00pm Monday to Friday. There may be some minor disruption, but no significant noise should be heard. All of the Premium King and Queen rooms face the Gulf of Mexico and do not look over the construction site.

**Critical Review: Avoid This Hotel - A Nightmare Experience** I recently stayed at this hotel for three nights, paying a staggering $4200, and it was an utter disaster from start to finish. Firstly, I discovered a metal clamp in my salad. This is not only unacceptable but also dangerous. On the second day, despite having paid for three nights, service came knocking at 9 am to check us out. This kind of disorganization and lack of respect for guests' schedules is appalling. To add insult to injury, upon checkout, I received a printout verifying that I owed zero dollars. However, I was later charged nearly $500 without explanation. I have a dispute in place, but this kind of shady billing practice is unacceptable. I strongly advise avoiding this horror show. Save your money and your sanity by staying elsewhere. Read less

Very poor customer service by Shanakye and her supervisor Ateina. RUN from this place. They do not understand how to treat their customers. I was given the run around several times by Shanakye. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT book a reservation here!

Returned as a couple after 6 years last visiting with a teenager , it’s even better than I remember, views sell it to me ,just fabulous. Rooms outstanding, love the 2pm ice cream , cookies and water on each floor in the pantry .Beach access , could go for a walk each morning barefoot! Rooms outstanding, love the 2pm ice cream , cookies and water on each floor in the pantry .Beach access , could go for a walk each morning barefoot! Staff super friendly in every area , love this hotel , got back last week and have booked for next year ! My slight concern is his Opal sol will affect things next year but we shall see . Also, having late flight , back to uk , no guest room to shower etc once checked out , which other hotels provide , found myself trying to shower by pool and getting changed for a night flight home in the restroom ! We didn’t stay there but we were looking for a bite to eat after a long morning at the beach and pool and we found Opal Sands. Ate outside with an incredible view, food and service thanks to our waitress Missy. Would definitely consider staying there in the future. Highly recommend the outside dining portion.
