Playa Largo Resort & Spa Autograph

Key Largo, Florida Keys

Virgin rating

The hotel

The first island you’ll hit as you drive through the keys is Key Largo, most famous for it’s watersports with reef snorkelling, diving, and glass bottom boat tours out of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park as must-do activities. Neighbouring the state park you’ll find Playa Largo set on 14.5 acres of secluded shoreline, providing your own piece of paradise to stay whilst exploring this part of Florida’s famous archipalageo. The private beach is the only thing between you and the sparkling waters of Florida Bay, where you can enjoy a range of watersports right from the hotel as well as venturing out to nearby attractions (of which there are plenty). There is a laid-back feel to the resort, perfectly in keeping with the area, but that doesn’t stop the facilities and service being up to standard. From a beach shack restaurant to a ceviche bar, all tastebuds are catered for, La Marea is a particularly great choice for locally sourced seafood and freshly handmade artisan breads and pizzas. When you’re seeking serenity after all the activity, book in at Ocean Spa where you can try specially formulated scrubs using coffee grounds, sugar, and salt. The top class service doesn’t end when you get to your room, an iPad is on hand to offer on-demand services to ensure your stay is up to scratch.

The check in process was seamless, and the welcome drink was very refreshing! I recommend renting a cabana for your pool day. Edwin took care of us throughout the day, and he was very attentive, and had a contagious positive personality. He brought us everything we needed and then some! The food at the resort was very good. We grabbed snacks at the pool bar, and were served by the wonderful Jean. We had dinner at Sol By The Sea, both nights. Elsie was our waitress and she was very accommodating. She made great recommendations, including the Mahi Dip, Steak, Grouper, and Jerk Chicken. I highly recommend this resort and can’t wait to come back! Read less

Staff was great over all and the VALET’s were 5 star like the finest hotels. Rick was above and beyond! He really gets it. Rooms need a refresh. Walls painted. Chairs replaced or recovered. Carpet is filthy, based boards and dusting needs a top to bottom for this level hotel. The carpet is really not needed. They are cheap poly amd should just remove as it would not hurt decor but does over all grime of the room. Cleaning staff for shared restrooms in hotel was attentive and kept the common spaces very clean. The front desk is under staffed during busier evening times in my opinion as we were on holiday weekend. Standing in line to ask a simple question 15 minutes and two staff walked out of the office by me without saying just this. Do you have a simple need? Pool staff overwhelmed for s’mores time. He needed assistance and only help he had was helped a young woman literally dropping a box of hersheys aggressively off at the counter. The food is mid level. There was too much heavy production one sauce for every dish type preparation. Pool area food was the best for variation healthier non spicy options. They should do buffets if their strategy needs streamlining. The elite club food for morning breakfast was great and the staff here was exceptional like valets. Bottom line great staff but needs a little top to bottom on rooms with some touch up. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Savannah’s great Service at Sol by the Sea!

Jul 7, 2024 Julio P

I took my family, group of 12, down on a boat ride to have a couple drinks at Sol by the Sea and our bar tender was absolutely amazing. Her name is Savannah. She was attentive, quick, social, and always smiling. We need more Savannahs in the industry. Thank you.
