We had a great time at Sandals Grande Antigua all thanks to our amazing Butler team-Nkosi, Charmaine and Odayne were the absolute best. We couldn't have asked for a better team. They were on top of everything. Odayne arranged a personal drive for us to enjoy Shirley Heights. Nkosi and Charmaine setup a beautiful hot drawn bath. One of the best bartenders on site is JOY at the quiet pool. She is truly a joyful and beautiful person. I can't remember the bartenders name at the Drunken Duck but he was an older gentlemen and he was absolute pleasure. We enjoyed the resort but the Caribbean Rondovals are in dire need of some updating. The grounds on the Caribbean side are beautiful and truly make you feel like you are on an island oasis. We would definitely go back and request the same butlers. Don't miss out on the extreme circumnavigation-seeing the entire island was amazing. Shirley Heights is also a must see-Sunday and Thursday nights. Read less

I enjoyed my stay at Sandals Antigua! Beautiful resort and beach! Although they have sargassum, they try to keep it under control. Room was comfortable. Not a resort if you have handicap issues. Lots of walking through out the resort and stairs if the elevators aren't working in the main building.

Very nice resort! A little dated in comparison to sandals Barbados but the people who work here and their service make up for slightly dated rooms. Everything was very clean. Nice touches like turn down service at night w replenishment of towels. Food was good except at Mario’s. Had a fun casino night and white party contest. Wish they had a little bit more entertainment. But the ocean was blue green beautiful! Lots of pools to go to- quiet ones and 1 that had DJ and some trivia games.- again maybe a little more entertainment like a foam party and they should have more water aerobics every day. But overall resort is very nice and relaxing and very nice people! Would recommend Read less

We booked Antigua following stays at Emerald Bay and Grande St Lucia. The booking was made in resort and we choose a Sunset Bluff walkout to a pool as per the photos. Approx. 2 weeks before we recieved an email from Sandals UK advising the room we had booked was under renovation so we have been ‘upgraded’ to a new room. This was now in the Mediterranean side of the resort. We challenged this and asked if this was further away from the restaurants etc. Lisa in the UK team advised this was closer to the amenities. On arrival into Antigua at approx 5pm we arrived to no representative from Sandals, we ended up having to call the resort to see how we were being collected. They then made a call and a taxi appeared saying they do resort transfers. We were not confident this was true so was on the phone with Sandals who told us to wait for someone else. It was very confusing! We finally got into a taxi and arrived to the resort. We had to wait at the security gate for 5 minutes and then when we pulled up there was no meet or greet by Sandals. We walked into reception and had to go up to the desk before being greeted. We then checked in and was taken to our room. The room was on the 4th floor so no ‘walk out’. We unpacked and proceeded to go find somewhere for dinner. This is where we found that the Mediterranean side is a distance from a selection of restaurants - Bayside, Elenors, Tex Mex, Soy and Kimonos are all on the Caribbean side. The next morning we went to reception and asked to be moved back to the Caribbean side for a room we had booked. We were told no rooms were available until Monday/Tuesday 4th/5th day in. The first room Was much smaller and bathroom was tiny so we said no. The 2nd room was a Rondoval but we couldn’t see inside. We googled and read reviews and it was clear it was smaller and some people referred to it as claustrophobic. On Tuesday we discussed moving but moving for 3 nights didn’t seem worth it especially to a smaller room. Despite reaching out to both Sandals UK and the Sandals team in resort and via the app no one was interested in speaking to us to offer any acknowledgment of the situation. This was very disappointing. The beds were quite hard and pillows very soft, we had asked if firmer pillows were available and told them would be brought up but we didn’t receive any. Generally the lack of management presence was felt throughout the resort in my opinion. The only time any management team were visible was for the Travel agents Fam trip going on and the returning guest dinner! In regards to service across the resort it was a mixed review. The entertainment team were fab! Junior, Cassie and crew doing pool volleyball, Sip and Paint and quizzes were all great. Hospitality severs were very mixed, we lacked the same friendly service we’ve had in previous resorts with the exception of Joy and a couple of others in the bars. The restaurant servers were particularly below standard, we had multiple issues with items ordered plain or without sauce but arrived incorrectly (Tex Mex was the worst one!). Our friends had a butler room and Jessica, K and Dirk were all great and very friendly. As mentioned earlier we booked this trip at the loyalty office in Emerald Bay so our intention was to book a new resort with our friends. We proceeded to the loyalty office go look at Grenada. The experience wasn’t great- the individual was quite unfriendly and when our friends came in to discuss their room there was a real lack of engagement and for Sapphire guests who have visited several resorts they were talked to as they have never been before. We all walked out and really didn’t want to book with her. Lastly one thing to be aware of both my friend and I were bitten alive! Mosquitos were bad despite using OFF! inspect repellent. On the 2nd to last day I had another bite which made my hand very swollen, they connected me with the nurse who told me to take Benadryl which I had to get from the shop. I was advised to keep it elevated and iced. I asked if they had an ice pack and a sling but they do not have these. Even the nurses office doesn’t have slings! So we had to make one! I can’t help but think these were quite basic items you should have in a nurses station or at reception. When I asked if they knew what it may be they couldn’t offer any suggestions. When we got to the airport a lady working in the shop said ‘oh that’s a honey bee sting, put your arm in Epsom salts’ It felt strange that she was so confident and offered a suggestion which I didn’t get from a qualified nurse. We’ve been told by an agent on holiday there that Sandals are changing from couples only to adults only so this may change the dynamic of the resorts with potentially more larger groups coming in. We stayed in a Rondoval with a butler. We were basically on the beach. The beaches are not owned by Sandals so other people than those staying at the resort could walk the beaches. There was a fence between our Rondoval and the sand. It was less than a minute walk to our lounges on the beach. We actually had 3 butlers that took care of our needs. They alternated shifts. We could have had our meals delivered to the room. We did have coffee and breakfasts cake delivered every morning. The left a midday snack most days. One day after spending the day at the pool we came back to the room to an already drawn bubble bath with rose pedals scattered around for a very romantic setting. They set up our chairs at the beach or pool everyday with a cooler of drinks and towels. We had a phone to call for anything that we needed. They made all of our meal reservations. Basically anything we needed they were there. The resort itself is older but still very nice. We did not take advantage of any excursions but there was lots to do with the resort and off the resort. I definitely say it is a place to visit. Read less
