Do not fall for the hype!!! I have been interested in visiting Sandals South Coast for several years, but have hesitated to book a vacation here because of the very, very, very steep price tag. I am absolutely willing to pay more for luxurious or special vacations, but do expect some value for money. This resort is visually stunning. The groundskeepers are the backbone of the Sandals experience, providing manicured and beautiful vistas. There has been some refurbishment in the resort (built 2005) and the rooms are more than adequate, although the refurbed villages have a weird, large bathtub in pride of place on the balconies. Yes, there are curtains for privacy (trust me- without the curtains everyone in the pool is watching you take your bath) but if curtains are required, why must the bathtubs be outside? There are magical sunsets happening over the water, and you can watch them sitting behind a big bathtub, because squeezing 2 chairs to the railing is impossible. BUT THE FOOD!!! I haven’t been at a resort with food this awful since I last tried Cuba. I have stayed at many, many AI resorts that were much, much, much cheaper and enjoyed dining head and shoulders above what this resort offers. SHAME ON YOU SANDALS!!! I tried the seafood offerings several times (we are right on the ocean after all) and all of it tastes fishy. Several members of our party had bowel issues after eating the Red Snapper. This is low grade, frozen seafood inexpertly prepared. Lobster is offered in only one venue: Schooners, and believe it or not I could not even eat the lobster tail served. AWFUL! Breakfast was good in all of the venues. Lunch marginal and dinner often inedible. This is supposed to be a luxury resort. Pick any 4 star in Mexico and you’ll be better off, plus you’ll pay a fraction of the cost associated with Sandals. I suppose you won’t gain too much weight while you are here. The platform of the resort is very much a “class” system. Pay a ton to come here, pay more so that you can have a concierge actually book dinners for you or pay even more so a butler will take care of your dinner plans. But make no mistake, butler or no you will be eating food that would be right at home in the food court of your local mall. I could go into the attitude of many (not all) of the staff, the inattention to detail, the minifridges that don’t get restocked, but I could overlook all of these issues if I had had even one decent dinner while I was here. Sandals is riding on an undeserved reputation. There are many other places where you will get more bang for your buck. Read less

We were at Southcoast from 10/28 – 11/7/2024. FIRST: “Tropical storm” Rafael hit. All the staff worked heroically to make sure everyone was safe. Pool chairs went cruising. A part of the roof of our building was torn off. Debris everywhere. Outdoor restaurants and bars were closed. Instead, Sandals had a huge buffet set up in Bayside with all the options from the restaurants. Congratulations to O’Brian and staff on responding so positively. On the fun/idiot side, a bunch of people spent the brunt of the storm in the hot tub. Amazing efforts for clean-up the next day. For those of you complaining about the over-water-bungalows, they are working diligently to rebuild. No way they are habitable currently. Roofs and walls missing. Scaffolding everywhere. We have over 130 nights at South Coast. Our favorite “home”. I am disappointed that Bayside is closed in the evening. We miss French onion soup, escargot and the main courses like canard and chicken cordon bleu. I understand they can be special ordered, but when doing so, it seems like an imposition on the staff of that restaurant. Another disappointment was the evening entertainment. Previous Halloween parties included staff dressed in costume and entertainment on the plaza like trapeze artists and fire batons. This year it was held at the Cabaret. Pumpkin carving contest (SERIOUSLY?). In prior visits, there was always some daily evening entertainment on the plaza. Piano player, violin, saxophone or singer. Missing those. All the staff was wonderful. Special people deserve recognition. A few include: Scejay at the Dutch pool bar, went out of her way to find my special liquor. We will miss Katanga. Robinson and Ashani, servers we have seen for several years. So nice to get hugs and see familiar faces. Davion at the omelet station. Such a happy personality and makes great eggs. Winston and Virginia at Giuseppe’s who were willing to make me a special dinner. Kiime(?) at Club Sandals with the greatest humor and personality and went out of his way to help us. Tennille and LaToya at Travel & Loyalty. Always a pleasure. Jodi-Ann Graham at the spa for her exceptional ability to turn me into mush. Read less

The hotel & grounds are lovely. We were welcomed and upgraded which was lovely thank you. although club level is a little wasted on us as we don't really drink in our room as we like to be at the bars, but it was handy for room service, which we ordered afternoon coffee & cookies as it was too far to walk to the coffee shop and back, especially the mixed weather we had. The outside bath wasn't used, as although the idea is nice to have a bath looking out on the wonderful view, I don't think Jamaica was ready to see us naked LOL. The room itself was nice but when you looked closely it was very dusty - the bedside lamps and bedframe had a noticeably amount of dust and the rug was very bitty. The console where the tv and fridge were was in need of replacement. The ceiling fan squeaked constantly so we were sleep deprived (the air con was a lot noisy so that wasn't an option). Housekeeping was excellent the first 3 days, the room was cleaned and replenished in the morning, but after that housekeeping would come around 4pm which was no good as we were back in the room having a siesta or getting ready to go out. On turndown they only left one towel. My medication Co-codomol was taken from my room - very disappointing. The resort is huge, the accommodation is on one side and the restaurants are on the other. There are no buggies that will pick you up, these are only for staff and butler level, which is a shame. The restaurants...... Jasmines - excellent, food & service 10/10 we ate there 4 times and a really nice touch was the chef came out and spent time chatting to us. The salmon was amazing. Neptunes _ poor - service is so slow and the food was just ok - we didn't get to desert as we had been in there for 2 hours! Bayside - we only ate once at lunch - very canteen like - we didn't go back. Schooners - we had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. service 10/10 even when the electrics went in the storm! Eleanors - We had breakfast & dinner x3 service and food was good. Service got worse towards the end of our stay for some reason, the food was slow to come out. Cafe de Paris - lovely for lattes and hot chocolate & cookies, crepes. Jerk Shack - nice - could do with more shade as it is outside dining. Plenty of sunbeds and towels around the pools and on the beach. The beach is lovely and so is the sea. I am a beach person and after reading negative reviews I was a little apprehensive but the sea is sandy, it is not clear water, but it is sandy underneath and we never came across anything on foot. The entertainment was spread out and if you are not looking at the app you will miss it! If you want the Jamaican good stuff surprisingly the staff a selling it. All in all we had a lovely holiday but it wasn't amazing and we wouldn't return. I was expecting more Jamaican food and vibe and unfortunately we could have been anywhere here. Our first Sandals was Grenada which I think we may have been spoilt, as the food, service, cleanliness and vibe was excellent and after a 10 hr journey the hotel was 10 mins away. However, although the bus journey took 2 hrs to the airport, the bus driver was very informative and a lovely chap. Read less

I cant even put into words how amazing Sandals South Coast was to us! When we arrived, we felt like we were VIP as we were offered champagne and seated in a comfy area to await our butler. Once our butler Kevin arrived, he showed us to our room which was TOP NOTCH. It was very clean, equipped with everything one might need for an all-inclusive stay and not to mention, absolutely stunning. The entire resort was breath taking. Our Butlers Kevin and Tevar made our experience THAT MUCH BETTER. These two men were incredible, they did everything in their power to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were comfortable and enjoying our time. Thank you all so much for such a wonderful time, my husband and I couldn't think of a better place to stay for a honeymoon. We will be back :) Read less
