We have been coming to this hotel for the last 12 years, at least one trip per year. It has always been our favorite little quick get-away UNTIL NOW... They recently remodeled their rooms, which look great, but the bed is soooooooooo uncomfortable that I pulled out the sleeper sofa which was only slightly better. The beds are like slabs of concrete with a thin fluff layer on top. My back and ribs experienced a level of discomfort that you can't even get to when you are camping and sleeping on a thin mat with rocks under you. Even the new robes are terrible: who the heck wants a synthetic fleece lined robe in a tropical climate? The trim on it is incredibly rough, like a zipper. It feels great on a sunburn. We booked a two night stay, but left as soon as we could after the first night and forewent the second night. The airplane seats in coach should afford better sleep than the beds at the Sandpearl. Absolutely fantastic resort on Clearwater Beach - away from the crowded area of the beach. GREAT customer service throughout. Highly recommend. Also recommend booking directly with the resort and not via VRBO (the top two floors are privately owned). The Hotel needs to hire a Maintenance crew. I stayed for 4 days in July. Some areas are lovely and others are in need of TLC. It’s ‘ok’ but i won’t return. My husband feels the same. It’s too bad the beach is amazing. The people walking around the area are sketchy. I did feel a bit unsafe. I have kids so that was big deal. We did not eat in their fine dining restaurant. The poolside food was bad. The employees don’t seem happy & the staff seemed disgruntled. It’s not an obvious disdain but a definite vibe. I am used to high end places though where they seem genuinely out to please. Also, I left a garment there and they lied and said they couldn’t find it. Now I will definitely not return. Overall it’s a pleasant place but it’s not super high end. It’s a 6 the beach a 9. Don’t leave anything there it will be stolen. Read less

This is a great location both because it's right on the beach - easy to just step out of the hotel and enjoy it - and because of its location in clearwater within walking distance to a ton of restaurants, shops, and marina for dolphin tours. We had no need for a taxi or rental car while there, which was great because we could just get there and relax. On top of that, the service attitude of the hotel is wonderful, little touches like the fact they literally opened the door for us every time we were at the entrance, and when it rained outside one day they had a cart waiting with towels and umbrellas for guests. That sort of thing really sets the experience apart because you feel special and appreciated. The heated pool was really nice, and we enjoyed some nighttime swims as a result that we definitely could not have done in April without it. Would definitely look forward to staying at the Sandpearl again if/when we return to Clearwater. Read less
