This was a very classy place in its earlier days. We were astonished at how it has significantly declined. Don't be fooled by the website photos, which must be old. Our experience: Room: cable TV not working, smoke alarm missing, bed like a slab of rock. In bathroom, "rain shower" head dribbles tiny needle points of water - barely enough to get clean or shampoo hair. Shower floor and grout look disgusting, no bar soap, towel bar hanging off the wall, bathroom lights hanging out of the ceiling. Grounds: Beachside cabanas have no drapes or roofs, very dirty and in disrepair. Breakfast deck in poor condition, chairs with broken arms. Hot tub not working (also broken last time we were here.) Included breakfast was OK. However, property overall is in dire need of repairs, updates and fresh paint in many areas. Owner should be ashamed. Needless to say we will not be back. Read less

Sandy Haven at first glance looks like an inviting little boutique hotel nestled on the 7 mile strip of beach in Negril. Absolutely enjoyed the view from our beachfront room. The problem begins with inside of the room: on arrival we were told there was no soap. That is unacceptable and not sanitary. Imagine all the guests on the property not being able to wash hands appropriately. The mattress on the bed was very uncomfortable. Our group of 30 +people used the resort for catering an event on the property. The food that was served by only one server was marginal, and not as promised. The food did not have any source of heat to maintain temperature, and therefore the food was not hot as it should be. Secondly, all the items that was promised on the menu were not served and the cost per person did not change.Lastly during the last 2 days of our 7 night stay one of our phones was damaged by a flow of water from the air conditioner that was above the nightstand where the phone was charging. With every issue or problem that we reported we were met with I’m sorry however nothing was resolved to our satisfaction. (We did get soap after 2 days and our room was changed on our last night) However, It’s been over a week since we’ve returned home and no one has gotten back to us regarding a resolution for the damaged phone. It’s pretty obvious to me that there is a serious lack of customer service or any genuine desire to satisfy guests. Read less

This is just the only place that I will stay in Negril! It’s quite clean and comfortable. I experience friendly staff and guest each time I visit. The chef can cook! STAY AWAY I went to Sandy Haven 7 years ago and it was really fantastic. The condition of the hotel was excellent, clean and the staff was great. I just got back from a 2 week stay this March. It was horrible. They’ve let the hotel go to trash. Ms Chen, the owner, is rude and very distressful. She doesn’t care about the guests. She literally laughs at you when you speak to her. She’ll letting the place go downhill as she’s building a new hotel down the beach. This is NOT a luxury boutique hotel!! I was in the most expensive room, a beach front suite for 2 weeks. I didn’t have water in my room for 3 days. Bathroom was filthy. TV didn’t work. The bartender Keon is the rudest person I think I’ve met. He treats the guests horribly. He makes you feel that you’re inconveniencing him. The deck in the breakfast area was not only rotting, but there were many rusty nails sticking up. The food was horrendous. The service at the restaurant was a joke. Many of the other guests also got serious stomach problems which lasted for days. I was told it was the bacteria in the water that got us all sick. The saving grace was one of the managers, Michelle. She was amazing and did everything she could to correct all of the short comings. Most of the safe were very friendly and helpful but were clearly unhappy working at Sandy Haven. The hotel was going to make it up to me for having such a horrible time until they offered me a discount for my “next” visit to Sandy Haven. They should have knocked money off this stay. What a joke. I’ll NEVER go back to this hotel. I’ve been to Negril 24 times and this was by far the worst hotel I’ve been to. I could go on and on about other problems but i don’t want to waste any more of my time. The ONLY great thing about this hotel, is their beach. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL Read less
