Solana Beach Mauritius

The hotel

Waiting for your drinks to arrive as you laze on white sands, shaded by a coconut palm. Taking a dip in a lagoon pool among tropical plants and dining and drinking terraces. Stepping out on your balcony to soak in endless sea views before heading out for dinner. This may be the stuff of daydreams, but it’s the true island experience guests come to enjoy when staying at the adults-only Solana Beach. It does deliver a delicious cliché, but this hotel also comes with its own unique twists, like the nod to the sixties and seventies in your spacious guestroom, which is otherwise thoroughly modern. It also gives you the option to do absolutely nothing – or to pack your days with cycling, diving, snorkelling, and even complimentary glass-bottom boat trips, and your nights with island entertainment and meals in three delectable restaurants.

Solana beach is a little hidden gem. I honestly wasn’t expecting much after reading the reviews but I was thoroughly surprised. I stayed in a prestige room. Very large, spacious room. Beautiful view of the sea right from your patio. I was on the ground floor so just walked straight out my room to the beach. My room could definitely have done with some maintenance. It is tired, but you are really in there to sleep at night. The bathroom spacious, just tired too. Could do with paint and some new tiles perhaps. A little mouldy smelling but you are right by the beach so not much to be done about that. The food to me was absolutely outstanding. I came from another well known resort before Solana and their food pales in comparison. There was a large selection at every meal and everything was tasty and fresh. I had more than enough at each mealtime and came home with the extra fat rolls to prove it!!!! The staff are fantastic. Service is very quick and efficient. They are all friendly and very willing to help. Fantastic job to all staff at Solana beach. You get 5 stars from me for your friendliness, service and attitude. To kewin at the bar, DANKIE, you are a gem. Very friendly and always a big smile. I wish I had remembered more names of staff to thank them. The beach in front is really not great. Full of rocks and difficult to walk on. I had to buy rock shoes at quite a hefty price so I could walk. But, the view of the sea in front of you is absolutely breathtaking. My friend and I would walk to the left and go swim at long beach where swimming was easy. Or we walked 15min to the right and came out at the most Beautiful beach for swimming and walking. We spent our days swimming and walking here and not so much at the hotel. We were on an all inclusive which is more than enough to choose from. I don’t drink alcohol so can’t really comment on that selection but for myself it was perfect. I had a fantastic 4 nights and 5/days at Solana beach. Read less

Beautiful hotel, rooms are spacious and very clean. Service was great, great ambiance. Friendly staff. Shower door is a must have. Out of the room straight onto the sea. We enjoyed their variety of meals especially the seafood. So much to see in Mauritius such that we never spent a full day at the hotel.

We spent 10 nights at Solana Beach and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The location was stunning, with fabulous views over the ocean from our wonderful ground floor room, which was spacious and comfortable. The food choice was varied and plentiful in the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a different 'theme' each day - all of it delicious. The staff are beautiful - happy, smiling and eager to make your stay wonderful... our room maid, Veena, was one of the loveliest people we've ever met and made us feel special every day, and bar men Shane and Kewin also went the extra mile to make sure we had a great time. The pool is lovely, with plenty of sun loungers... though we spent most of the time beachside where there was a constant gentle breeze. The hotel is a perfect size for it to feel a little exclusive... it never felt crowded. I don't want to take the focus from how wonderful Solana Beach is, but a couple of negatives would be... the WiFi is patchy and rarely worked in our room (but was great outside); they haven't got to grips with the All Inclusive concept and a lot, too much, is excluded; one bottle of water in the room per day isn't enough - every day we had to ask for extra. In summary, we loved our stay and would definitely go back ❤️ Read less

Th menu served was not what we were proposed when we booked the hotel. We ordered drinks twice but did not get them while other persons there got their drinks. Plates and cups were not available for tea time or lunch as there was many schools there. We were asked to leave the dining room as the staff were to prepare it for diner. In the ladies toilets, the sanitary bin was full and not emptied and had to wait to use the toilet as the ones upstairs were out of order. Some of the hotel staffs lack manners. They don’t even greet us or attend to us. A very bad experience. No value for money... Read less
