The hotel

This lovely hotel sits on its own 100-acre peninsula at the southeast point of the island, just a 10-minute drive from Nelson's Dockyard with its historical buildings, museum and bars. There are two beaches, one for non-motorised water sports and the other for enjoying refreshing ocean breezes. The resort boasts five open-aired restaurants and one grill; most fêted of these is Piccolo Mondo, the resort's fine dining Mediterranean style restaurant in the village section, while the attractive waterside Docksider does a great Caribbean buffet each Thursday in alfresco surrounds. For a real treat, Royal Suites feature a king size bed with sunken living room, glass sliding doors to a private balcony and expansive bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and his and hers showers! A boardwalk also takes you from the suites right into the heart of Mamora Bay, perfect for strolling along in the moonlight! If plenty of home-from-home comforts appeal, choose a villa instead of a hotel room at St James's Club. Cheerful and bright, they feature warm Caribbean tones and terracotta tiles throughout. They're also very generous on space so are ideal for families and groups of friends.

This resort is amazing and there’s enough of everything for everyone. We never had to wait for chairs in the beach or to use the catamarans. The one thing we had to wait for was bottled water, despite three asks, three days in a row, and three promises, the water never showed. They don’t sell it there either. Aimee and Quivern, and the rest of the staff, thank you! We won’t forget you and we will be back. Read less

They were AWESOME 😎 To the ladies working at the Tree House Cafe " you girls rock" always a pleasure smile on your faces. As a local I would like to say I am proud of the service I received from all mentioned about. Thank you all for making my birthday a special and memorable one. Geraldine Thomas Read less

If it wasn't for the guys at the resort, our trip would have been a trip from HELL. We booked two rooms on one reservation and requested the rooms be close together and upstairs since we were a group of ladies traveling by ourselves. I was told you requesting too much and when we got there our rooms were two buildings apart. When we asked to speak to a manager during check-in, our request was denied & told they would move our friend tomorrow. The next day we were told the same thing & when we refused to back down and threatened to write negative review, the manager (male) spoke up and said he heard the entire conservation and our friend was moved into a room 2 doors down from our room within 15 minutes. All but one or two of the women at the resort had nasty attitudes and blantly lied to us about petty stuff i.e. they didn't have ranch dressing altlough ranch dressing was on dinner salad bar later that even; ran out of all peppers for omelets @ 8am and the male cook next to her had peppers; and we couldn't take food to your room even after we told them one of the guests was allegeric to the cats wondering around in the restaurant & the waiter (male) last packed her food to go. The same manager (female) who told us we can only take food to the room if we ordered it to go told us the next they don't do to go orders... there were other people with different skin tone color with food at the pool. The air condition went out in the lounge/bar during a party. It was reported but no one showed up to repair it & everyone way before closing. The wifi barely worked in our room and the only area guaranteed to work was the reception area. When we got ready to check out, we noticed we were charged an additional fee. When I showed her our confirmation from Priceline stating all taxes and fees were paid and all we owe was the resort fee which was payable to the resort at check out, she stated the Tourism Guest Levy fee was mandatory and not included in the 3rd party taxes and fees we paid Priceline. When Priceline called inquiring about the fees, they told them they only charged us the resort fees. So who lying, I don't know because we have yet to hear back from Priceline. My final thoughts, if you are looking for a hot girl summer trip, this is NOT the resort. Hopefully we weren't treated this way because of the color of our skin which look like theirs... didn't see others treated the way we were treated. Read less

Arrived early afternoon, hotel is approx 30 minutes from airport. Reception, small area where they check you in, rum punch on arrival, nice touch, Check in was ok. Rooms, The room we were offered was a disgrace, lower floor, you could tell by the bottom of the door there was water damage, in the room everything was wet, water was running down the walls, floor wet, furniture wet, how they would offer those rooms to anyone is beyond me, we were given another room, big enough for 3 people, beds comfortable but rooms need updated, compared to other hotels we have stayed in, rooms get cleaned every two days which is fine, need air con in bathroom as everything gets steamed up. Food, Docksider Restaurant, has a varied choice of food, loved Rashedi so attentive, Grill snack bar on beach, a couple of staff as in Senior do not have the customer skills required, been miserable and looking guests up and down is not a skill to be desired, says more about them than the guests, but other staff kind and caring, Rainbow restaurant, lovely at breakfast time, a la carte evening and service very slow, Eleven eleven, good choice of meals but slow in getting food served, Cafe shop, one of the best, choice is amazing, staff are lovely, Italian restaurant closed due to refurbishment, Birds are a big problem in the hotel restaurants, in reviews managment said they are looking to act on this months ago but have not done anything about it. Pools, We have only really used reef pool but there is several others, reef pool is a very relaxing area with the biggest pool, beach towels available. Bars, Reef bar, Docksider, Jackaranda, others are attached to restaurants, Vincent and Crisedena have looked after us. Entertainment, Activites work hard, hotel have singers on different nights. Beach, the beach at Docksider is really nice but I am afraid that is it, you are unable to swim in the sea as it's unfit for purpose, really slimy, very polluted water, the other beach is also a no go due the seaweed problem, staff try to clear it every day, what a thankless task for those men, the smell in some areas of the hotel is horrendous due to the seaweed problem, so other than the pools, we have been going to Sister hotels through the day to be able to go to the beach, the hotel provides a free shuttle bus, hotel does have watersports but not enjoyable due to the state of the water. WiFi is unpredictable. This hotel has the opportunities to provide better facilities to make up for the non beach scene that other hotels provide, you could provide, infinity pools along the beach to maximise its potential, in the rooms on ground lower ground you could turn into indoor pool as they are not suitable to stay in. We are still here, we are having a wonderful time, hotel has good vibes, despite its lack of hotel features, however I would pay a bit more and stay else where for simple holiday luxuries like a beach holiday that you can go and swim in the sea, not everyone prefers to swim in the sea if that is the case this hotel will be fine for you. Shirley Heights & Catamaran Trip is a must. Read less

A great 4 star resort. We had a lovely holiday here. Friendly staff and decent room / facilities. Lots of trips out to choose from. We stayed 7 nights from 20 June 2024. Very quiet off season but that’s what we wanted. Restaurants offer a nice choice of food although disappointing that Picollo Mondo (Italian) restaurant is not open as it’s being refurbished. We really cannot fault the resort. We normally only do 5 star so were very happy to discover this was a decent 4 star. Note: There is a seaweed problem at the resort beach and others nearby so the hotel puts on a bus to its sister hotel. We went to PineApple resort/beach which is 30 mins away. Lovely beach and great food. All inclusive food/drinks if you’re coming from St James’s Club resort. Definitely would stay here again. Tip: best food in our opinion was at Eleven-Eleven restaurant open from 11am to 11pm. Tip: Do not bring local EC$ currency as nobody wants it! USD only for tips and purchases really. Tip: hotel didn’t accept AMEX so make sure you have Visa / Mastercard. Tip: The best coffee is from the coffee shop close to reception. All part of inclusive food/drink. Read less
