Just spent 10 nights at the Soco Hotel. Lovely quiet hotel. Staff were very helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Michelle had so much local knowledge, which she shared to make our trip special. Food was good too. Only downside was the noise from the road as others have mentioned, so not great if you like sleeping in. Bed was… Read more

Stayed at the SoCo hotel Barbados in June and it was superb!! We have stayed before but this was the best ever. Everything about this hotel means you meet and make friends with some great people. The views are amazing because you are right on the beach and at the end of the Boardwalk which is ideal for exercise. The staff are so friendly and attentive and the bar staff make great cocktails and are such a great laugh. The food is cooked to order at breakfast, lunch and dinner and the menu changes every two days. Michelle’s rum tasting experience means all guests meet at the bar, get to know each other and learn about one of the island’s most famous products!!! Followed by dancing and photos - great laugh. All the staff (too many to name them all) are so friendly and love to tell you about the island - we love them all. We have already booked for three weeks in Oct/Nov, can’ t wait! I know there will always be people who complain about everything but they were a tiny minority and not happy in their own company!!! Love to all at the SoCo and see you soon xxx Read less

WThis is our home from home, we have been there so many times, but we were away from our family at Christmas for the very first time! We shed a few tears on Christmas morning but we had already shed a few watching England get beat at The Oval in Brdgetown - ha ha. The hotel was wonderful and the staff were amazing, working so hard to make sure all the guests were happy. We met return guests who had been there at the same time as us on previous occasions and first-time guests who are already booking return visits. We re-booked as soon as we returned! Kimberley, the GM, runs the hotel so efficiently and attends to any problems you may have. Michelle is brilliant, from the 'never to be forgotten' rum tasting session to booking excursions or events if you need help she will sort it. The bar staff: Shane, JP, Stan are absolutely the best, but sorry boys, not so good at dominoes, as some of our new friends showed you how it should be done!! We had some crazy nights around the bar where every one gets to know each other. The kitchen and restaurant staff are all so friendly and efficient (too many to name but we love you all). The cleaning girls were so good at moving in when you left so the rooms were always done when you returned. Last but not least the Front desk and security staff wer so good and were always there to help if you needed it. Pedro on security was always giving advice and information if we were going out anywhere. Thanks to all you beautiful people and see you again! xx Read less

We enjoyed our stay at the Soco but it wouldn't be a hotel we would return to or recommend. Our room was OK but could have done with a deep clean, marks on the paint work and walls. Furniture showing signs of wear, the shower wasn't very powerful and the noise from the traffic starts around 5.30am. Also the hand rails on the stairs were very… Read more
We enjoyed our stay at the Soco but it wouldn't be a hotel we would return to or recommend. Our room was OK but could have done with a deep clean, marks on the paint work and walls. Furniture showing signs of wear, the shower wasn't very powerful and the noise from the traffic starts around 5.30am. Also the hand rails on the stairs were very sticky and grubby. The food was a bit hit and miss, the same lunch and dinner menus for two consecutive days, theres not much choice for vegetarians, and a limited choice for deserts. Some of the waiting staff looked like they would rather be somewhere else, and none of the staff wear name badges so can not comment on the ones that gave us good service. Michelle, Shane and Stan are all very friendly at the bar, but none of the spirits are branded and not very strong except for the Rum! and when they run out there not always replaced. Soft drinks are not kept in a fridge and are so warm, and we were told that the management have said if you want a cold drink put ice in it! but the drinks are so warm the ice melts straight away. There is only one choice of one white wine which was never very chilled, and there is no sparkling wine unless its the managers cocktail party on a Monday night between 18.30-19.00. Michelle's Rum tasting on a Wednesday is good fun, but at the end she asks guests to put a review on TA, and the first one that gets published gets a bottle of Rum as a prize, so thats why theres always reviews on a Wednesday, but the reviews are for the Rum tasting and not the hotel. As others have said there are only 24 sun beds, 12 by the pool with not very clean covers and 6 on the beach (that were old and worn out) and 6 that were chained up! this is for a 24 room hotel, and you always get the usual guests that reserve their beds before breakfast and then don't use them for hours. The beach also isn't kept very clean. We met some lovely people while we were there, as it's small and intimate but it's not a hotel we would return to, it's obvious the management do not like spending money on the hotel, not even name badges for their staff. They were not welcoming. In the beginning, I had a hard time with my credit card because I was traveling. The front desk guy wasn't patient and welcoming. I think he was the manager. It was very disappointing. Even after everything was taken care of, the vibe was still off. I was celebrating my birthday and New Year's. I don't think I would ever… Read more
