The hotel

Overlooking the beautiful bay of Grand Baie, the Veranda Grand Baie Hotel & Spa is bursting with Creole charm and is ideally located for exploring the nearby restaurants, bars and shops. All rooms have been sumptuously decorated with cool, soothing tones and are dotted amongst the grounds. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink from your private balcony or terrace, admiring stunning views of the surrounding gardens or swimming pool. Water sports are, of course, in ample supply. Windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling and pedal boats are complimentary, as is a glass-bottom boat ride so you can admire life below the waves without getting wet! Pay a bit extra and you can join PADI qualified instructors on diving expeditions and set sail on the resorts catamaran for an exciting excursion. The Kids & Teens kiosk will keep little ones entertained with a whole range of exciting activities. There’s also the delightful Seven Colours Spa should a spot of pampering, well-deserved no doubt, appeal. Le Food Comptoir serves a delicious range of local dishes as well as more international favourites. Lazy Lobster, set right beside the ocean, is more suited to special occasions, taking you on a culinary journey you’ll never forget.

We also did the bike tour to see the capel and then a visit in the botanic garden. After the ativities you can relax at the private beach and pool or even at the beach bar. During the day you have to wait sometimes long for your your drinks because they only have one guy serving the whole area. But the personal is very fiendly and helpfull. Read less

Lovely hotel, situated very conveniently right on the beach in a beautiful bay. Staff very friendly and helpful, particularly Ajay and Ansuya who were always keen to add a personal touch. The food was fresh and varied, with a lavish buffet at breakfast and dinner and a la carte at lunch. Highly recommended.

The hotel generally is nice. However we did have a bad start. Got told to sit and we'd get a welcome cocktail that never arrived, our host went with our passports and disappeared for 20minutes. We never got shown around, thankfully we asked and another host showed us around, explained how things worked and gave us all the information we needed. Service is hit and miss generally. Lunch menu could do with a bit of a revamp, the even buffet is what you'd expect from a buffet. Read less

Chef Divesh is very talented, the beef I ordered was divine. The waiter, Akilesh, is also worth a special mention, he made us feel very welcome. Thankyou. We will be back Read less
