The hotel

Overlooking the beautiful bay of Grand Baie, the Veranda Grand Baie Hotel & Spa is bursting with Creole charm and is ideally located for exploring the nearby restaurants, bars and shops. All rooms have been sumptuously decorated with cool, soothing tones and are dotted amongst the grounds. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink from your private balcony or terrace, admiring stunning views of the surrounding gardens or swimming pool. Water sports are, of course, in ample supply. Windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling and pedal boats are complimentary, as is a glass-bottom boat ride so you can admire life below the waves without getting wet! Pay a bit extra and you can join PADI qualified instructors on diving expeditions and set sail on the resorts catamaran for an exciting excursion. Whilst parents are lounging beside the pool, the Kids & Teens kiosk will keep little ones entertained with a whole range of exciting activities. There’s also the delightful Seven Colours Spa should a spot of pampering, well-deserved no doubt, appeal. Le Food Comptoir serves a delicious range of local dishes as well as more international favourites. Lazy Lobster, set right beside the ocean, is more suited to special occasions, taking you on a culinary journey you’ll never forget.

The resort is small and comfortable, perfect for a family stay. More than anything, our stay was made unforgettable by the people who work at the Veranda. Kunal, Balram, and Vicky were friendly and welcoming and always keen to chat and joke around with us- which we appreciated. They made sure we had everything we needed and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and accommodated. Ajay, Rishi, and Elisha were fantastic in the restaurant. Their smiles, jokes, and efficiency did not go unnoticed. Ajay took further care of us at the poolside and on the beach, where he was constantly making sure we stayed hydrated and comfortable. Alisha was responsible for cleaning the rooms, and she was a super star! Always happy and smiling. While being shy, she made our day whenever we saw her. And her hard work and professionalism were clear. Thank you to the whole team! We would host you all if you ever come to visit us in Cape Town :) Read less

This is an amazing small , elegant hotel with a lovely colonial feel. We stayed in a Comfort garden Room, 211..it was fantastic. The pool is so beautiful with a beach bar next to it that was so relaxing. The small beach is stunning with great views. The location is great, close to grand baie so you can walk it in less than 10 minutes either on road or along beach. The staff are really friendly and work hard to make sure you are ok, I do. have to give a shout out to someone in particular who never stops making sure you are ok and happy he goes out of his way to come and ask if there is anything you need. Thank you Ajay coconut for the attention you give in the buffet restaurant and around the pool. I wish more people had his work ethic, such a friendly helpful guy. Now, a couple of things to note if going here..yes it's fantastic so do book it.. Here are a few things that I personally found. * it is very noisy around 9.30 ish from surrounding bars and sometimes it can be till early hours. But it was ok as most nights we just went with it and had a ball. *if your B&B there wasn't a lot of choice to eat as we had to book buffet to eat in restaurant at night at 3000 for us both... No menu to just go in and get a meal. I think we could book a la cart. But it was outside on beach which is very chilly at the moment so not an option in winter months. I did have food from snack menu but it's tapas style.. so if hotel could maybe put food on there such as burgers and sandwiches that would be great *Sunbeds on pool were very comfy but there were only about 16 around the actual pool with about 10 ish on the grassy area near bar . On the beach there were more but unfortunately as I agree to other reviews saying they are so uncomfortable for anyone with bad backs. It's the gap between seat and back part when in sitting positions. If hotel would like some advice sort that out because it's pretty bad as nearly everyone I spoke to said it . Now back to my absolute love of our holiday at veranda Grand baie. We had an amazing time in the hotel but also getting out and about. Next door is a beach with great little huts where you can drink and have fabulous food. Don't be afraid of eating outside of hotel, it's fine... Great food and safe. This is where you can experience real maritous , watching the lovely local people enjoying life singing and dancing together celebrating just because it was weekend... There are So many lovely small beaches easy to get to but take towels and no beach furniture on them. We frequented Many of the nearby fabulous bars and restaurants on the marina, here are some of the best .. banana beach club, cocoloco, sunset bar, the spot, neo's.... All friendly and fab . To the hotel... Thank you we had a ball and loved our time with you. Read less

Not enough food choice on buffet and drinks for A.I guests. Rooms and hotel are very beautiful. Perfectly located. Special mention to Ludovic and Sindy.
