ANdAZ West Hollywood

West Hollywood, Los Angeles

Virgin rating

The hotel

As sleek and understated as it appears from its spot on LA’s legendary Sunset Boulevard, the Andaz West Hollywood is actually a prime slab of Rock ‘n’ Roll history that dates back to 1963. Over the years the likes of The Who’s Keith Moon and The Stones’ Keith Richards have sent TVs flying off the (now enclosed) balconies, while Led Zep drummer John Bonham reportedly rode a motorbike up and down the corridors. Thoroughly renovated for the 21st century the Andaz relishes its history, but these days the musical motifs complement the minimally chic décor in boutique-style rooms rather than run rampant. Indeed, there’s a friendly, unpretentious welcome here that extends from the hotel’s enticing eateries to its breathtaking rooftop pool (where, incidentally, Spinal Tap’s end of tour party was filmed). Rock. And. Roll.

Hhh A few nights in West Hollywood, stayed in the Andaz. Very nice hotel, valet parking $75 a night I think it was, decent check in, friendly staff, free snacks at reception 24 hours. Landing area at floor was freezing, but otherwise OK. Rooms were a little dated but a great view across LA. Food was nice, and the menu although small had enough, if you like eggs, bacon and that sort of thing. Croissants could have been better. Fantastic location at the centre of a nice and lively area. A word of warning, be prepared for homeless people around the area; nothing to do with the hotel, of course. California is expensive but I think this hotel leans a tad on the pricey side. Anyway, very good overall experience. Read less

I would recommend staying in a different hotel. In the calm part of Hollywood for example. You would pay a third of the price and have better quality experience

I had 2 rooms for multiple nights mid summer. Air Conditioning did not work and they could not fix it. Coffee spilled in the elevator stayed for hours. Poorly run hotel. Category 3 hotel masquerading as a category 7. Extremely noisy rooms (even those facing away from Sunset Blvd). Breakfast staff was great.

The Andaz West Hollywood was a an awesome place to stay. It was my friends and I first time visiting West Hollywood, we’re glad we picked this location as our stay. Beautiful accommodating staff in the outside of the building to the inside:)

Hotel is tired and rooms are a bit dilapidated. No amenities in the rooms, please add nespresso machines. I don’t want the inconvenience of coming downstairs for mediocre drip coffee.
