DoubleTree by Hilton in New York is a decent hotel with an excellent location, just an 8-minute walk from Penn Station. It offers comfortable beds and thorough daily cleaning. However, the rooms are very small, and the wait for elevators can be frustratingly long. It's a good choice for a short stay if location are your priorities.

The hotel room we stayed in itself was decent enough, it was a little bit cramped but what do you expect from a hotel room in the centre of Manhattan? Unfortunately the bathroom sliding door was a bit wonky and didn't close as it should (which may be a bit of a concern if you didn’t go as a couple) but the view from our room more than made up for… Read more

Unfortunately the bathroom sliding door was a bit wonky and didn't close as it should (which may be a bit of a concern if you didn’t go as a couple) but the view from our room more than made up for that - panoramic view of Times Square! However, the real highlight of the hotel was the concierge, named Carlos. A very knowledgeable and friendly man indeed. He gave great recommendations of where to eat and what to see in the city and he always made time to chat and make you feel very welcome and special. For example, After discovering he was a Jets fan we spoke for a long time about the NFL and he was more than happy to share his passion for the game with someone like me - a gridiron fan from the UK. I look forward to coming back to NYC in the near future (hopefully) and I would stay at this hotel again, and meet up with Carlos and go tailgating New York style. Read less

Lifts- most we waited was 5 minutes not bad at all I would ignore the negatives regarding them , maybe peak times like Xmas could be worse but we were told the hotel was fully booked so maybe not. Location- excellent location close for Times Square Macy’s madison square garden not too far to walk for Central Park. Subway 5 min walk to go to downtown. Great pizza next door. Safety- I have to say I felt very as a mum and daughter yes you do have some homeless yes you can smell weed but tbh I think way worse in London myself and daughter said we felt far more safer in nyc than in London. Yes some bits of the hotel are rundown but I got an excellent price and for what I paid more than happy. Staff were friendly and efficient I would absolutely use this hotel again! Read less

This hotel is in a great location to explore all the city has to offer. It has nice facilities and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Rooms were decent, bed was comfy, could maybe do with a slight bit of TLC in places but overall we had a great stay at this hotel and it provided us with a good base for our time in NYC.

Good location but that’s all….hotel is beyond tired, peeling wallpaper, filthy carpets, tiny bedrooms, scruffy bathrooms, faulty lifts, no shower gel, no water in your room and to buy it in the hotel is ridiculously expensive, staff are evasive as they can’t answer the questions from frustrated guests. Whilst the location is good for tourists,… Read more

Whilst the location is good for tourists, the street itself is very dodgy and does not feel safe at all. Overall I do not recommend this hotel Read less
