The hotel

As synonymous with Boston as the eponymous tea party and cream pie, Hilton Boston Park Plaza has been a landmark on the city’s hotel circuit since it opened 90 years ago. Reinterpreted for the 21st century traveller with a $100 million mega-makeover, it now adds contemporary décor and mod-cons to its timeless elegance. And you’re in good company, with all bar two US Presidents staying here since it opened. It’s easy to see why, with a top-drawer location near Boston Common. Of course, they wouldn’t all have experienced today’s attractions, which include a mammoth 20,000 SF Health Club, the nightly cocktail hour (well 5 hours) in the Library, and the New England inspired dining of its Off the Common restaurant, with Boston’s signature lobster rolls a menu favourite.

1054 rooms. All with 47” interactive smart TV, Keurig coffee maker, safe and 100% blackout shades. Standard Rooms are compact and 150 to 180 square feet in size, with 1 double bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults. 

Superior Rooms are 180–280 sq ft and have 1 king-size bed, 1 queen-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child (3rd guest on a rollaway bed*).

Deluxe Rooms are 280–380 sq ft and have 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child (3rd guest on a rollaway bed*).

One Bedroom Suites are 530 sq ft and have a separate living room, full bathroom and additional powder room, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Studio Suites are 350_550 sq ft and have city views and a living space with leather sofa, with 1 queen-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Arrived early into Boston and we were lucky enough to be able to go to our room. In the words of the person checking us in "it's a really nice room on the 14th floor". Arrived early into Boston and we were lucky enough to be able to go to our room. In the words of the person checking us in "it's a really nice room on the 14th floor". Unfortunately the window couldn't be opened so no fresh air. The inner blind didn't fit into the window correctly and looked a mess. The bottom of the bathroom door was in need of repair and it all needed a good clean and clean decor. The beds were comfy. We are in the restaurant the first evening, the food was only ok and very very expensive. Waiting staff weren't particularly friendly. I was asked if I wanted to join Hilton Honors for additional benefits including water - none arrived, so not sure what those benefits were. The hotel is in a great location and we felt safe walking everywhere. The city is fabulous and we will return but not to this hotel. Read less

Carpet did not feel clean. Bathroom was tiny. There was no counter space, spartan amenities, not even a cup, and worst of all, there was a cockroach! I have never ever seen a cockroach as big as that in the Northeast! In Florida or Asia, perhaps. Never in New England! DISGUSTING. I will never stay at this Hilton again.

Every morning Brunilda greeted us with a smile when seating us for breakfast. She was very kind and friendly. The only thing that would’ve been nice was to not have to go to the front desk in order to get complimentary water, pen & paper, vanity kit, and sewing kit.
