When you walk in you'll be greeted with the hotel's signature cocktail on the house in Bar Moxy, and if your room isn't ready yet, why not order some small plates and jump on the foosball table for a bit of competitive fun. When you get to your room, they're decorated simply with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city or Charles River. Throughout the rest of the hotel there's plenty of vibrant colours and fun artwork all around, and there's even a photobooth in the lobby for you to get some takeaway snaps as a souvenir! I've stayed in a couple of Moxy properties before, but this was very first stay at the Moxy Downtown Boston. I picked it because it was the most affordable Marriott property in the downtown area. Anything cheaper would have been outside of downtown. I checked-in via the mobile app, so once I arrived on the 2nd floor, the check-in process was pretty easy. The common spaces are vibrant, and geared for a younger crowd looking to enjoy their drinks in a music-filled atmosphere. Sometimes there is a DJ, and sometimes there was live music. My room was on a high floor, overlooking Tremont Steet and the W hotel and residences across the street. It's a typical Moxy room, so very compact, but given I was only there to sleep, it was fine for me. They provide a foldable table and extra chair if one needed to work or eat. I noticed they provide both a white noise machine and set of earplugs, so clearly they know there is a noise issue, but I didn't really experience many noise issues other than one night where there were a bunch of emergency vehicles at the intersection attending to situation. WiFi generally worked fine, and the washroom worked well for me. Bed was comfortable. I was surprised that no in-room safe or mini-fridge were provided There is a $35 daily amenity fee charged, but they provide a $35 voucher for each day, which you can spend at the Moxy Bar. The voucher must be used in one transaction for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and can include market items, so often I would use it for one meal, and use the remainder on snacks and drinks that I would store in my room. The food was a bit hit-and-miss, but not bad. I used the gym a few times. It was small, and was busier than most hotel gyms I use, probably because the client base tends to be younger and health focused. When I first checked-in, I was told the hotel parking was full. So i had to use a public parking lot for the first two nights. When hotel parking became available, I was given a pass. The hotel parking is actually located in Chintatown about 2-3 blocks away, so not particularly convenient. In fact, the first public parking lot I used was closer, but the hotel parking is better for in-and-out privileges. The location is one of the major selling points for this hotel. It's located in the Theatre District so easy to see shows. Short walk to Chinatown, and easy enough to get to places like Boston Commons and walk the Freedom Trail. Bonus: the top floor isn't in use in the morning, so I popped in briefly to get a few nice views and pictures of the city. Overall, I enjoyed my stay knowing that the Moxy edges between a hostel and a hotel in that they have tiny rooms, but really nice common spaces for socializing. The location is great, the rates more reasonable than most hotels, and the $35 amenity fee delivers decent value. My only complaint is the parking set-up, and there is potential for noise depending on which way your room faces and which floor you are on. Read less

The location is close to the Boston Commons, Chinatown, and Theater district. It is also close to bars/club including one in the building. There is a constant thumping of music till late into the night. I actually could probably have handled that but there was almost constant car horn beeping outside. The street goes from 3 lanes to one. There was also plenty of sirens. The music and horn beeping settle down around 3am. So unless you are also bar hopping till 3am I would not recommend this hotel. Fun space for exploring the city. Serena was very helpful and was able to get us checked in early which was a nice surprise! Close to Chinatown and a quick ride to and from the airport. Rooms have everything you need with cool views of the surrounding buildings.

Clean, modern and comfortable in a great location. Great checkin and sightseeing suggestions from Alyssa and Micah(?). Never experienced an issue with noise. Only negative was no coffee available in room and free coffee at reception only until noon. Would highly recommend and would return.

Marianne and Serina made me feel so welcome on arrival after a long business trip. They were so welcoming and kind. I truly appreciate the exceptional customer service! Hotel is absolutely beautiful, unique and full of lights and art. A true rarity in the heart of Boston.
