My friend and I planned a girls' getaway. We flew into Boston (BOS), rented a car, and explored Plymouth Rock before spending the first four nights on Martha's Vineyard. Our initial accommodations were nicely appointed, clean, and comfortable. We had booked the Omni a month in advance for our remaining four nights, expecting an equally pleasant experience. Instead, our stay became a series of escalating disappointments. As a 4-star hotel, the Omni should provide UPSCALE accommodations with four-diamond service. Upon arrival, my friend—who had booked an Executive Room—politely requested their best room after a long day of travel. What we received was far from luxurious; it was more akin to a nasty rundown motel. The room's condition was shocking: the carpet desperately needed deep cleaning, chair cushions were so worn they collapsed into the frame, and numerous amenities were absent (missing furniture, missing décor, missing robes). The towels were so rough they felt like exfoliating loofahs, toiletries were of poor quality. To add, the room lacked basic conveniences like a refrigerator or microwave - we later learned they had to be requested. When my friend contacted customer service, she was dismissively told, "You booked through Expedia"—a statement that was both incorrect and irrelevant. Even if we had used a third-party booking site, shouldn't a 4-star hotel maintain its standards? If we wanted 2-star accommodations, we would have chosen a budget motel. The room's sole redeeming quality was its spaciousness. However, the poorly maintained furniture and haphazard arrangement created an immediate negative impression. The customer service continued to disappoint. When offered an alternative room on the 7th or 9th floor, my friend requested to preview it first. The staff's response was unbelievable: "No, we don't show rooms." We were paying nearly $300 per night and were denied the basic courtesy of room inspection. The hotel manager, John, eventually offered to personally show us a room and assist with moving our belongings. The mere fact that we had to make multiple calls and jump through multiple hoops was exhausting and completely unacceptable for a supposedly high-end establishment. The troubles didn't end there. My friend dined at the Last Hurrah restaurant, paying with her personal credit card. Shockingly, the hotel attempted to charge the SAME amount to the room. When confronted, the front desk could not produce a receipt or documentation. My friend was forced to provide her own receipt as proof of payment. This experience felt like a deliberate bait-and-switch, with the hotel seemingly attempting an unauthorized transaction. We consider this a clear violation of customer trust and plan to file a detailed complaint with the Better Business Bureau (the corporate office in Dallas will also receive these details). Our dream of a stress-free vacation dissolved into a nightmare of poor service, maintenance, and professional conduct. Omni should be ashamed of their spectacular failure to deliver on its 4-star promise. Read less

As usual for this hotel, which I have been going to for over 20 years, the service was good, the staff very nice, the food served at our functions superb, and the overall stay quite good. The location of the hotel is excellent and the history it carries makes it unique.

You are walking distance to so many historical sites as well as public transportation. The hotel itself is full of amazing history. Because it is so old the rooms are a little smaller than a newer hotel, but for me it was worth it to be surrounded by all of that history. It is a little outdated, but they are in the process of renovations. Once that is done it will be perfect. The staff is also absolutely amazing. They are so friendly and helpful. Read less
