The hotel

Set in seven leafy acres, and with a 50-year tradition of serving guests, The Garland is relaxing, family friendly, and doesn’t skimp on style. Take in its relaxed retro vibe and comfy style. Eating at the restaurant here is, as they say, like an evening at an old friend's house. Request a table out on the deck for dining amongst the trees and plants, catch up over a drink in a cosy booth in the lounge or grab a seat at the bar. Check out the weekly programme of activities too — you could join a guided walk, watch a film by the pool or enjoy some complimentary wine tasting. All this, just minutes from LA’s hotspots. As a Preferred Hotel Partner of Universal Studios Hollywood℠, you’re just a free shuttle ride from the parks, so don't forget to purchase your park tickets too for the ride(s) of your life!

Absolutely loved this hotel and hope for an excuse to return. It has an old school tropical resort vibe. The public areas are always hoping with guests enjoying themselves. Definitely a hotel where people enjoy getting out of their rooms and socializing. Rooms are spacious and clean and plenty of parking. I took the short walk to the Brady bunch… Read more

Definitely a hotel where people enjoy getting out of their rooms and socializing. Rooms are spacious and clean and plenty of parking. I took the short walk to the Brady bunch house and the neighborhood felt very safe. Close to both universal and Warner Brothers and found many places to eat a short drive away. The trolley to universal is great, but doesn’t leave early enough for early entry to Nintendo world. Still only a $10 Uber ride away. A delicious late night snack is the cookies and brownie bags available for takeout from the front door restaurant. Read less

Unless you want to spend several days at Universal Studios and nothing else then this probably not hotel is not for you. It is only around 1km from there but otherwise it's in the middle of nowhere!. There are no shops or sights or parks or anything else to see. It's located way up north of Hollywood so any uber to get near all the action is around 20-30 minutes. You can't really walk to anything of interest. It is right next to the freeway so can here that all night. There are also lots of little children and the pool was packed with them and a movie so not very relaxing at all. Aesthetically the hotel is quite cute, more like a modern twist on a 1970s motel. The rooms are really basic but the beds are really soft and comfortable. Check in staff and concierge and trolly driver were friendly. We didn't look into it enough as we were rushed to find a hotel at the last minute. Otherwise I definitely wouldn't have booked it because it's too far away. Cost was around AU $650 for one night and one room. Read less

The hotel is GORGEOUS, and so much effort is focused by the team on giving guests the ultimate Hollywood treatment…from delicious food and cocktails, to outdoor activities, and even little side tours. They go out of their way to make sure you have a great time. It is well appointed, clean and has everything you would need and want for a relaxing getaway. I loved every minute of my stay here! Excellent experience all around. Appreciated the managers assistance with a bill mistake and the prompt and friendly fix. Food and service were great. Staff friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend to others and we will return.
