Rubbing shoulders with the political bigwigs of Washington DC, The Mayflower is just a few blocks from the city’s most famous address, the White House. It’s a landmark in its own right though, welcoming guests for more than 90 years and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, its supersized and super-opulent marble lobby would befit any visiting statesman. Its dining venue would suit dignitaries too – EDGAR Bar & Kitchen is all edgy masculine styling, high-end drinks and cocktails, and American brasserie favourites with an upscale twist. Luckily, its fitness centre is open 24/7 to work off all the treats and tipples – although, you’re better off getting out and exploring all the landmarks, museums, and galleries within a stroll of your doorstep, from Smithsonian museums to world-class shopping magnets, or hopping on the subway just around the corner.

The hotel is beautiful and charming. The cleanliness is second to none. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. Check in can be tough after a 4 hour drive, but Logan was amazing. He checked us in quickly, gave us an phenomenal upgraded room and waters. The upgrade was much appreciated.
The Room: One of the best I have stayed in. Immaculate condition. Everything is modernized yet still holds its historic charm. You could use a white glove on this place and be pleased.
Edgars: Excellent cocktails. The bar holds its historical value while offering much comfort. The food was great. We dressed casually on a Friday night and didn't feel out of place. The staff was very nice and we would recommend if your staying here to have dinner or at least a cocktail. It's well worth it.
We had an issue with the TV...which turned out to be the streaming service...not the fault of the hotel in anyway. Yet when I called Logan he sent up Ivan immediately. He tried so hard to fix the problem (which we didn't realize was unfixable). Instead of just saying "Sorry" and walking away, he went out of his way with Logan to try and find us another room with another TV to fix the problem. Wow!! They truly went above and beyond for us. Upon realizing they couldn't fix the issue Logan offered us a personalized private tour of the hotel as well as a bottle of wine. This young man was incredible. We will be returning because of him.
Thank you to Logan and Ivan. This staff is second to none. I felt as if I was the only guest in this hotel. What a special experience.
I enthusiastically recommend The Mayflower to everyone!

We stayed at The Mayflower on the Marriott Vacation Club Floor. The room was great, with a very comfortable bed in a sizeable room. The bathroom and bathroom amenities were excellent. Coffee and pastries/snack on the floor were also very good but disappeared quickly! Do not linger! Coffee in the room was, however, also excellent. We visited Edgars, the on-premise restaurant for drinks and food several times during the visit and were most pleased.

I stayed at the Mayflower with my wife and toddler while attending an on-site conference. The location was good, with metro stations and food options within easy walking distance. Staff were friendly, and the hotel had a nice character to it.
We stayed in a room with a king bed, and while it appeared nice at first glance, there were shortcomings. The TV stand and desk were combined into one unit, which did not allow for easy working space. There was a single chair in the room, which was neither relaxing as a side chair nor functional as a desk chair. There were no dressers, and the nightstand did not even have drawers, so storage was a problem for a 6-night stay. The window looked out onto a brick wall. The bathroom was functional, but one of the bulbs burned out on our second day and a hand towel hook would have been helpful.
Beyond the hotel space, the conference space was substandard and detracted from the experience. The conference rooms were spread between two floors and required use of the main elevator bank to easily navigate. One room was too wide/shallow, and one room was too deep/narrow and had major sightline obstructions. Some of the lights flickered, and there were building machinery noises to deal with. Also, most of the catered food was low quality or unappetizing.

Nice but age is visible

A bit mixed feeling; nice building and you can feel the years, but in a positive way. Lobby and bar nicely fitted. Lifts limited and can get a bit packed. Room was a bit small and not so well organized, with such an view to inner yard that only reason to have curtains open is to get at least some natural light. No buffet breakfast available, only…
