Housekeeping and general cleanliness great. Water always available, friendly front desk staff and got a map from them on my first day when I enquired about the subway.. Breakfast was our highlight as Rozina was super amazing and attentive. She made our stay the best and the food variety was just right especially for vegetarians. Showers and water perfect, bathroom door sliding but not easy to use. Our room was large enough for 3 of us and 3 suitcases. Comfy bed and sofabed and pillows. Lovely kitchen facilities ( micro, dishwasher, fridge, dishes cutlery etc ). Good location, some outside noise but too tired from being out all day that it didn't bother. Read less

Very functional kitchen complete with a dishwasher. Reliable wifi connection. Only downside is the location. Didn't feel safe outside the hotel especially when walking towards the Metro station. With marijuana having been legalized in New York, one could expect to smell it in public. However, finding meth pipes being used openly in public and passing by throngs of drunks thrashing liquor bottles on the streets in the middle of a weekday, can be unnerving especially if one is staying in this area with the family. Clearly, this is beyond the control of the hotel but it would be worth noting as and when one decides to stay here. Read less

This seven story hotel has only one elevator, an incredibly poor design. If you search past reviews, you will see complaints about the slow, noisy elevator and that it breaks down. It broke down twice, in the evening and in the morning, while we were staying on the seventh floor twice and was noisy and slow otherwise. It is so common that they have a laminated sign saying elevator not working. Front desk will lie to you saying that it is the first time that it happened but the past complaints in the reviews on Google, Trip Advisor and Marriott's website do not lie. Had to move to another hotel which was more expensive due to NYC's high occupancy. I am an Ambassador Elite member with over 2300 nights with Marriott. They only compensated me for 1/3 of the additional cost. You do not want these elevator problems to begin with but you would at least expect the hotel and Marriott to step up. They only put one toe on the step. The elevator problems have been going on for years. Read less

The staff was great! Very helpful and polite. Special shout out to Michael, Chanel and the Housekeeping staff. Many a times they single-handedly managed the entire front desk processes, which is awesome especially because the property was sold out on a couple of days. Housekeeping staff kept our rooms immaculate. They all tried their best despite the limitations of the property, and truly deserve praise (and a raise!) for their special efforts. The location is central so that was helpful. Unfortunately, that is where the plus points end. On our first day during check in we were provided a room on the first floor--Room 104 right next to a corridor that was being freshly painted. We are Bonvoy members and had made the booking through the hotel's website five months in advance hoping that our request for a room on a higher floor would be accommodated. Yet we were told that as we were the last ones to check, in our request could not be fulfilled as the hotel was sold out. Room 104 did not have a functioning AC, and the smell of the fresh paint permeated the room making me sick. A service person tried to fix it while we stepped out for a bit. When we came back, the HVAC was still not working. Finally, we reached out to the Front Desk and they moved us to room 410. That room also had the same issue--the AC was not working. The room was stuffy and full of stale air. The engineer tried to fix it until 10:30pm that night but was not successful. To top it off, the TV was not working (had a weird blue film on it), the flush was broken, and the sliding bathroom door was jammed locking me in for a while. We had to request for two fans so we could finally get some sleep. The next day, we spoke to the manager who said we would not be charged for the first night and moved us to another room 704. This room was better than the previous ones--functioning TV, flush. The HVAC was not optimum, but better than the previous rooms. We had to set our thermostat at 62-degree F, which seems high but felt more like 72 F. Luckily, the weather outside was cooler in the evenings so we could sleep. During our last two days, the elevator stopped working and we had to climb seven floors up and down for two days. This was problematic during check out as we had to carry heavy bags down seven floors, which was ridiculous! We stopped going for breakfast after a couple of days as there was not enough room to sit and eat, and many items were not replenished. Not expected of a Marriott property at all. Very disappointed in our stay. Read less

This hotel is in the perfect location for a theatre weekend, the room was wonderful for my needs as a solo traveler (the fridge and microwave were great for leftovers!) and the staff were all very friendly. Additionally, the price was a good value relative to NYC prices. However, the most important service a hotel needs to provide is a restful night's sleep and in that respect, I was regretfully disappointed. My room felt a bit warm for my comfort although it wasn't particularly hot outside. I asked at the front desk if someone could check the room's A/C and I have no idea if they ever did or not because no one gave me any feedback. Even if it was just me (although I was chilly in other venues such as theatres), a message to confirm that they'd checked would have been welcome. As it was, I slept so poorly on my first night that I missed breakfast. I'm a platinum elite Marriott member so I am well traveled and used to adapting to different hotels. The 2nd night seemed a bit better so maybe they did something, but it was still not great. After this trip, I've invested in a portable room thermometer to add to my travel kit so I will know for sure what the room temperature is. (the room thermostat did not display the actual temperature, just what you set it to; I ended up having set it to 63F with high fan even though I'm usually comfortable at 71F at home) The light in the bathroom is motion sensitive to turn on, which is very convenient when you are entering the room. However, on my 2nd night, I noticed it turning on more than once on its own when I was in bed which may have disturbed my sleep. I didn't mention this to anyone because I was checking out and no one asked me how my stay was. I also had an annoying experience when I returned to my room tired and my key didn't work. (I realized this in the elevator but had to ride all the way up and back down) On a trivial note, I'd selected to decline housekeeping when I did my online check-in because I don't need servicing for a 2 night stay and I prefer people not to touch my stuff. I was surprised to see that the room was actually serviced. (I had taken off the do not disturb sign because I'd requested someone look at the A/C) I must note that I had stayed in this hotel in 2019 and had experienced absolutely no problems. Having worked at a hotel when I was younger, I remember that there would occasionally be a guest who would have a series of unfortunate fluke bad experiences. Unfortunately, I guess I was that guest this time as I haven't seen any of these issues mentioned in other reviews. Read less
